One thing that helps us a lot with figuring out what borrowed English words have come to mean is the dictionary at Infoseek Japan:
http://dictionary.www.infoseek.co.jp
If you click the kokugo jiten option, it'll give you the Japanese definition of the words.

I have found that the Random House Japanese dictionary that you can find in most stores is really helpful.

How big is it and about how much does it sell for? I have to drag whatever I buy back to the States in a suitcase in a few months, so I have to be careful about that.
