Taking a fic for a test drive--

Aug 23, 2003 20:43

If I could get some opinions on the following, I'd be very grateful. This fic is set about five years after "Chosen"/"Home" and is a BtVS/AtS crossover. I'm not even going to attempt to match it up with the upcoming season of AtS, so don't worry about spoilers--this is all my speculation about what the Jossverse might look like in five years. I really like this so far. It's not confusing at all. Still a bit rough in places, but with lots of potential. I can imagine that Connor and Dawn work well as a couple; only the story of how they meet draws very heavy on coincidence. One chance meeting of two people who're already connected I can buy, but two is a bit much... OTOH these coincidences do happen in real life, so I'm willing to swallow it for the sake of the fic.

The scene where you introduce Cordy works so well, it brought a lump to my throat. Not overstated, yet you fully sense the tragedy. Just perfect.

Good idea to bring Sahj... Sajh... Sahjann? back, and finally take care of that dangling plot thread.

Angel shifted uncomfortably. “It could be a case of mistaken identity. In any case, though, we think it would be best if you and Dawn stayed here, at least for tonight. We can get you rooms here. Or . . . a room. Whichever you two would prefer. I mean, you can arrange that with the desk clerk, because it’s not really my business.”: grin: Oh, yeah, I can practically ( ... )

It seemed to me that in Ats Seasons 3 and 4, they called Cordelia very little besides Cordy. It was even the name of her skewed reality sitcom.

I have to agree about the pacing; things definitely seem a bit too rushed. But the plot is there, and it's very interesting. I like the art aspect, and Cordy's condition, and the Guardians, and Connor and Dawn's relationship, and ... everything else. But it seems like too many revelations piled on top of each other. For as many new ideas as you have here, you'd need at least three chapters to spread it all out. There's just a bit too much exposition all at once.

The story is very good, though. :)

I think this is great! I've never read much Dawn/Connor but have always wanted to. Course, I must admit I like *almost* any Dawn pairing. But even besides the whole Angel/Buffy connection I find Dawn & Connor fascinating at this point in time together because of the false memories thing. So much of their lives built on that.

I feel so bad for Angel and loved how Connor has the picture of Darla that Angel drew. And, oh, poor Cordy!

Keep going HonorH! A really good start... I'd be interested in seeing a bit of Connor-snark when he's feeling better and a few whines from Dawn - our leads are seeming a bit too nice right now. But I'm looking forward to more.

Dawn. Does not. Whine. honorh August 24 2003, 09:53:20 UTC
Sorry, hon. You know my view is that Dawn was never that much of a whiner to begin with, and I can't see her being one five years from now. She will show some flaws, of course, but she won't whine.

No of course not! No whine! ponygirl2000 August 24 2003, 18:10:47 UTC
Umm... freely express her displeasure with events and situations? In moderate tones of course.
