I AM SO ENRAGED BY THE HUNGER GAMES CASTING, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Hutcherson is so wrong for Peeta, I just can't even. I just can't. And Woody Harrelson? FUCKING WOODY HARRELSON? Way to make Haymitch into a caricature. Jennifer annoys me the least because I kind of like her as a person, but there's still the little fact that Katniss and Gale are supposed to be olive-skinned and dark-haired, and they cast...pale blonde people. And gave them both a tan. Classy. FUCK YOU, HOLLYWOOD ( ... )

Ahahaha, I love it when you get all protective over stuff like this. *squishes*
But ah, I don't agree with the casting either. Jennifer I just don't like, but then again I was happy with the picture of her dressed up as Katniss, so yeah. I don't even know the guy who is supposed to play Peeta, but he doesn't look like him, so no thank you.
To be honest I am really really happy with Woody as Haymitch but I see where you're coming from about the caricature, we'll see.
The worst is Lenny Kravitz, though. Actually both Cinna and Portia are complete opposites of what I've pictured them, but Lenny is the worst. And EVERYONE thinks the same XD
But yes, we havde seen a cast completely opposite of everyone's expectations, think of The Last Airbender XD;;;

I finihsed the first book yesterday so I was very glas hen 2 and 3 arrived this morning.

Regency AUs. *.* forever. I don't think the Arthur/Eames ones can be beaten, though.

Thank you for the X-Men recs!

So... has anyone here read it?

I read the first book and started the second one but lost interest as soon as I saw where it was going. I read the Wikipedia pages about book 2 and 3 because I wanted to know how certain plot developments and relationships play out, but I didn't want to live through all that. Too much angst/torture/violence/dystopia isn't my thing but I can see why the series is so popular.

Anytime!

Oh my, when you say it like that I'm almost afraid to start with book 2. Because these days when you buy the books, each has a word of praise from our special friend Stephenie Meyer on it and honestly... I was almost put off the entire thing just by that.

Same here! For what it's worth, though, my not being enthusiastic about the series has nothing to do with anything a Stephenie Meyer book ever did or didn't do. Frankly, I have no idea why she likes these books as they are nothing like Twilight. o_O

bwahahaha, that would be the best thing if she just liked it because she thought "hey, that's like my stuff!" but I do see a few parallels, to be honest. The books both have a formerly indifferent protagonist that is suddenly pushed to the centre and being driven towards desperate measures to be able to keep what she loves and believes in, that and a slightly overdramatic streak.
