He died as a result of injuries from a bar fight. It always seems so stupid and senseless, no matter how many times I read it.

i also did not make the connection between eraserhead and jack nance. the neurological faculty responsible for face recognition? mine seems to be on a permanent vacation.

I'd call that a fair mistake. He aged a lot since eraserhead. Did you read about his wife's death? Just an astonishing level of sadness in his life.

yea, i did. the wikipedia entry doesn't mention that they were separated and he was potentially a catalyst in her suicide. it is devastating. her life was remarkably sad as well.
