Most the time, I'm not terribly fond of the idea of Library AU's or fix-its, since the Library seems such an intrinsic element of River/Doctor... But this was really great. I love how you handled it. I love the humor and the flashes of seriousness. I love how you handled the bit about River supposedly being out of regenerations. And then the ending line about a geography teacher. Ha! Great prompt response.

I'm not either, usually; I think the canon ending is fab. I was drawn to this prompt because... where do you go when the Library isn't final? How does the dynamic change? What about all of the characterisation ever? Obvs about 1% of what I worked out actually showed up in the fic, but I enjoyed myself. *g*

*points to cinderbella* What she said. Usually I am firmly in the "her ending was fabulous; stop trying to screw it up, everybody!" camp, but I actually . . . rather . . . love this? It's confusing to me : ) But you didn't undermine the intentions of anyone in that episode with this--there was just a fantastic accident that nobody could have counted on, and now River can go underground just like the Doctor.

And the humor and the warmth and the slightly bemused feeling of all of this was just right. Love the crack about how many times did he rehearse his line!

I have such an enormous love for her ending, but it was fun trying thinking about other possibilities.

*wipes brow* I was worried I'd mess the Doctor's motives up, but then I figured that Eleven, in that frame of mind, *would* retrieve the journal and then lurk in the shadows and watch.
