Yeah, I doubt most of those kind of remedies work, but I know the ginger ale thing does - with nausea only, though. It has to do with the ginger content; ginger legit settles the stomach and aids with digestion.

And gatorade is good for replentishing electrolytes, which do... stuff. Idk what, though, lol. /fails

So ginger ale and ginger tea do the same thing? I don't care for ginger tea myself (too sweet) but I have at least had it once or twice for a sore throat.

Gatorade makes me nervous. Those colors are unnatural, man.

Yes, ginger ale is a real thing! I always got ginger ale when I was sick as a kid - not so much nowadays. I mostly tough through minor things, but - uh - for sore throats that bad you could just get some cough drops?

I haven't had the flu in a looooong time. I do remember when I did have it as it usually involving throwing up and...aches, and maybe some other stuff? It's probably the stomach flu, but it's also possible people are ascribing more symptoms than are actually appropriate.

Now I'm curious and need to do more research.

And yeah, it's totally a thing for someone older to refer to someone younger as 'kid.' Both in an affectionate, yet dominant sort of way. So Death could legitimately refer to Castiel as 'kid.' Not that he would (I don't think) but he totally *could*.
