This is the first episode I've rewatched in forever. I had to see Ellen mothering Dean from beyond and the verbal smackdown again.

If I recall correctly an orb of Thessala was what Willow used to restore Angel's soul on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

It is! (I had to pause the ep just to look it up, so points for knowing it off the top of your head ;)

We need more deceased!Ellen. And Jo. And Rufus. Especially Rufus.

We do need all of those deceased people and I'd add John to the list. I'd love to see him again.

LOL, as soon as they said it I thought of Willow! I am that big of a Buffy geek.

I'd prefer less deceased!ellen. She could just show up; I wouldn't even actually require an explanation for her miraculous return to the land of the living.

I just watched this ep! I liked it! I knew they'd make up as soon as Sam finally reacted to one of Dean's bad jokes! He was pointedly ignoring him before, and then he couldn't help doing his exasperated face, and it was like Homer telling Marge, " you laughed, now you can't be mad!"!

It is indeed all about the bad jokes. He *is* a damn comedian!

Love that parallel. So accurate!

My husband tells me that every time he is being a big dummy and I want to be mad, but I can't because he made me laugh.

Also, why can't they show us Dean telling Sam "omg, Ellen made me talk to you!"?

Agree, agree, agree, agree. I can't believe how absolutely delighted I am with this season. Addressing Dean's issues? Check. Not dragging out Sam's Lucifer-visions and the Amy thing out forever? Check. Mix of humor and angst and fear? Check, checkity check. Ditto that I never re-watch Season 6, but I've already rewatched almost all of Season 7. Swoon.

Even the TwoP recapper gave the last two eps A grades. That's almost unprecedented.
