Why is it that in my journal the page that opens when someone leaves a comment is just the generic LJ page, and it doesn't match my journal layout? I've looked for an option to toggle and can't find it.

Could depend on the style you're using. Not all layouts have that option. If it does, the option reads something like: Use old-style comment pages, and you have to UNcheck it.

I do. Even if you don't, you ought to be able to view the option but not access it. Unless they've changed the design pages. I haven't messed with my layout in months.

yeah, I looked through everything and I can't find that anywhere. Thing is, I think I've seen it before.... but at the same time, I've had several layouts over the course of my LJ so it would have been before they made all the changes.

That's discriminatory. I feel marginalized by LJs economically oriented user benefits.
