McNeill wasn't too excited about the prospect. He hated, above everything else, being a hindrance to others, especially military personnel. Which was part of the reason why he was a little nervous to finally get on with retraining his left hand. It was bad enough that Weller had been running around for him since they got on the caravan.

But, he supposed he owed it to Rookie to give it a shot. He wasn't a quitter and he wanted to be able to help, if they needed it. So, he managed to head downstairs and outside.

Finding Rookie was easy enough and he managed to catch him as he was placing bottles up. Ah, target practice. A little old-fashioned for his tastes, but hey. They didn't have the resources.

"Hey, I'm here," He announced, stepping closer. He gave Rookie a smile, but it was obvious on his face that he was nervous.

When he heard the voice behind him, the Rookie turned, and immediately dropped the work at hand in order to greet McNeill with a salute. He had respect for this man, similarly as he had for Weller - and while the other was more outgoing and aggressive about protecting the caravan, the Rookie couldn't deny that he respected McNeill in particular for how he handled such an injury. He quickly dropped that thought, however; it was, at the same time, awkward to always think about McNeill in connection to his injury.

But now, the Rookie left the few bottles he hadn't placed as targets yet lying on the ground, and approached McNeill instead. Training first - the target practice was for later. He wasn't sure how far McNeill wanted to go this day anyway, and how quickly he would learn.

When he reached the sergeant, the Rookie briefly moved his hand to pretend holding a gun, then opened it towards McNeill questioning, palm up. It was probably for the best to do this with McNeill's own weapon.

McNeill regarded Rookie with a nod. He had, thankfully, the hindsight to bring his pistol along for this. No one could ever say that McNeill wasn't prepared. He reached down awkwardly with his left hand and unholstered it.

Grasping it awkwardly, he gave Rookie a half-smirk. "It's really strange holding it like this," he admitted, before handing it over to him. "I'm not sure how good I'm gonna be at retraining my hand. But, I'm more than willing to give it a shot."

Actually, he wasn't sure if handing it over was a good idea. He wasn't sure he'd be able to take it back without fumbling with it a great deal.

The Rookie glanced at the gun with faint admiration. It wasn't really like anything he'd ever held, but it looked impressive enough. A little heavy maybe for a right-handed man's left hand. That wasn't making things easier.

Additionally to that, the Rookie had never done this before himself. But he would give it his best shot. So after having given it a thorough inspection, he handed it back to McNeill - closed the man's hand around it and stepped back to look at how he was holding it.

He came back once or twice to correct McNeill's grip a little, then gestured him to put it back - and then to draw it again. For now, the most important thing was learning to grab it properly again.
