[OOC: I'm heading off to work in 15 minutes until 10:30pm EST-4/Boston time orz, but I couldn't help it ;; I love Petit Princess Yucie--and Elmina in particular ♥]
He didn't mean to stare at the very odd-looking girl with wings. He'd just wound his way back to the inn he'd found himself residing in a few hours ago, returning from his small jaunt to District 2 for something to quell his painfully gnawing stomach, namely an apple (he wasn't all that hungry despite the hunger pains, but he knew that he ought to eat something.) Catching himself quickly from the stare, Yuusei walked over to where she was knelt down and crouched down near her, keeping a comfortable distance between them.
"Aa... Miss?" he asked quietly, hearing the soft murmurs of her distress. He tilted his head to the side and waited for a response, if there would be any.
Elmina raised her head, unable to entirely disguise the embarrassment on her face. She picked herself up, wiping the dirt off her dress, hoping that he hadn't seen all of that-perhaps there was enough time to salvage her first impression.
"Are you alright?" he asked, raising himself up as well now and settling one hand in his pocket, the other palming the apple. It... wasn't everyday one saw a girl with wings on her back like some sort of angel. He tilted his head a bit to the side--she looked rather embarrassed and before that, she'd had a rather distressed timbre in her voice.
"Yes." She continued to swallow her embarrassment. No matter how undignified it was to become an angel who could not even fly, there was no lying about the facts. Being caught in such an obvious lie would be even more stupid and undignified. "...I cannot get off the ground."
Dojima was slowly getting used to the sight of a giant man in the distance, hand-sized men at his feet, and so many oddly-dressed strangers all around him... so by the time he saw a girl who looked every bit an "angel", the shock had started to wear off. He glanced at her casually as she stepped out of the inn, thinking in the back of his mind that it'd figure if she could easily fly--
--only to feel an instinctive pity well up in him when it became obvious that she could fly... but not here. He thought that she might be one of the locals, but her confusion made it obvious to him that she wasn't. A little girl, not much older than his daughter, taken from her home... before he knew it he was already by her side, offering a hand to help her up.
"Hey," he said a bit awkwardly, but his kind intentions were clear. "Are you alright?"
Elmina stared up at the hand, grabbing it if only to let the embarrassment end more quickly. She righted herself, doing her best to look dignified and unruffled. She hadn't even realized how much of a spectacle she must have made of herself in front of so many strangers. How long had it been since she had looked so foolish? ...At least, on the whole, they seemed more sympathetic than jeering. This man was going out of his way for her, and she could not help but feel grateful, although she still shied away from looking into his eyes.
How awkward. Here he was busy looking for one particular shy little girl in his life, and he's already stumbled upon another. He could barely take care of the one, how could he look after this one? Still, he couldn't just... leave her.
The situation was a little more complicated than just waking up here, in Elmina's opinion, but she wasn't quite ready to bother anyone with the details. She chanced a glance up at Dojima; he seemed a bit... tired, and not someone that she wanted to worry unnecessarily.
