[OOC: I'm heading off to work in 15 minutes until 10:30pm EST-4/Boston time orz, but I couldn't help it ;; I love Petit Princess Yucie--and Elmina in particular ♥]
He didn't mean to stare at the very odd-looking girl with wings. He'd just wound his way back to the inn he'd found himself residing in a few hours ago, returning from his small jaunt to District 2 for something to quell his painfully gnawing stomach, namely an apple (he wasn't all that hungry despite the hunger pains, but he knew that he ought to eat something.) Catching himself quickly from the stare, Yuusei walked over to where she was knelt down and crouched down near her, keeping a comfortable distance between them.
"Aa... Miss?" he asked quietly, hearing the soft murmurs of her distress. He tilted his head to the side and waited for a response, if there would be any.
Elmina raised her head, unable to entirely disguise the embarrassment on her face. She picked herself up, wiping the dirt off her dress, hoping that he hadn't seen all of that-perhaps there was enough time to salvage her first impression.
"Are you alright?" he asked, raising himself up as well now and settling one hand in his pocket, the other palming the apple. It... wasn't everyday one saw a girl with wings on her back like some sort of angel. He tilted his head a bit to the side--she looked rather embarrassed and before that, she'd had a rather distressed timbre in her voice.
"Yes." She continued to swallow her embarrassment. No matter how undignified it was to become an angel who could not even fly, there was no lying about the facts. Being caught in such an obvious lie would be even more stupid and undignified. "...I cannot get off the ground."
Yuusei raises a brow because those wings look big and full enough to carry her quite a distance from here, but this place does odd things to you. His duel disk completely malfunctioned to the point where it became useless and he had to leave it at the inn he'd found himself at. "Aa... that's unfortunate to hear. This place is doing strange things to all of us..."
Elmina tilted her head, a curious expression on her face. It was relieving to hear that it wasn't only her-but she felt guilty, immediately, for taking comfort in others' discomfort. On the other hand, they did all seem to be in the same uncomfortable situation... so it was probably only natural to find strength in numbers. "Is it?"
"From what I've heard around and about, yeah." Yuusei was a pretty good listener since he was little, always remaining quiet and in the background, and paying close attention to details. "Gotta' try and make the best of it though, Miss..."
He left it hanging int he air, fumbling for a name.
Considering this new information, it took her a couple of beats to realize he was asking after her name. "Elmina," she stated with a slight bow, letting her wings disappear again, as if they had never been there at all. "It is inconvenient... but I will try not to let it bother me."
It took an even longer moment for her to realize that it would probably be polite to ask for his name in return, not to mention useful for her own reference. "...And who are you? Do you live here, or did you also recently arrive?"
Stunned a bit by the sudden disappearance of her wings, Yuusei gave them a few moments of his thinking before shaking his head and offering her a nod back. "I'm Yuusei," he murmured as he gave the streets around him a glance, watching the people pass by for a brief moment before looking at her. "I just got here as well... This is terribly timed though... I mean--it saved me but at the same time I'm not where I'm supposed to be. I'm here. And my friends need me."
He sighs shakily and starts tossing the apple up and down. Doing something with his hands always helped him quell stress, which formed a knot in his stomach tightly.
Elmina paused momentarily. She hadn't fully considered the people who had come here in the middle of their normal lives-they had things they needed to accomplish, but they had been stripped from their world, and who knows how long it would take to make it to Loophole, to send them back? She imagined being sent here in the middle of her training, or during the fight with Diabolos... it was their teamwork that had carried them through, and she didn't want to imagine what would happen if she was banned from doing her part. With how nervous this man Yuusei looked, perhaps he was in the middle of a similar situation... But she barely understood the basics of this world and how to escape; she couldn't offer adequate consolation, or even sympathy, since she had left her world voluntarily.
"...I see. Then we should make sure our journey runs as smoothly as possible," she stated, finally, without anything else to say.
He nodded. "Was there anything you planned on doing today aside from taking a bird's eye view of the town?" Yuusei himself had already done what he'd wanted to do, which was get something in his stomach and gather a bit of information. The rest of the time would be spent waiting for this strange Way-Warrant to come and take them on their journey to "Loophole" as he'd heard of it.
"So far as I know... there are vendors in District 2 that have food that they're giving for free if you're hungry at all. I'm not too sure what lies after that."
She was a little confused... Hadn't he just explained the urgency of his situation? Yet he had so suddenly switched his focus to her.
...Well, she couldn't blame him. There wasn't much he could do about it for the moment, so it was the least she could do to distract him from his worries. "I was attempting to explore the area. ...I would like to have something to eat."
