It took Nick a little while to find his way to the caravan and its giant. It wasn't hard to spot once he got outside, but he'd been delayed by the temptation of more candy. Once he'd had his full of sugar, he was out the door and not far from the behemoth of a transport ( ... )

John Doe turned and looked at the boy who was approaching now. So somebody was coming, after all! And it wasn't that other sergeant who had tried to take him guns away, obviously.

But from the looks of it, the other boy had had trouble finding any clothes his size, too. A suit, much too big and dirty... Wasn't anybody left here who still had their normal clothes? But the other boy had a gun, and it was an impressive one. He almost felt a little jealous, but he liked his well enough.

"John," he answered, dropping his gun to wave. "John Doe. And you?"

"Nick," Nick offered quickly. Should he mention his full name too? No, it wasn't worth it. Not like the other kid needed his last name to talk to him. Besides, John looked like he wasn't as old as he was-- he'd probably forget it anyhow. Was he the one who wanted to play War? Nick wasn't sure he wanted to play with little children, but maybe he would just this once because no one else had said anything. It wasn't like anyone he knew back home would have to know. John had a gun too, so it was okay to let it slide.

"Is anyone else coming?" He inquired after a moment. Maybe there would be other older children, so he wouldn't look so out of place. Or maybe it would be the two of them alone and no one would see them.

Weller had been pretty productive since they'd last spoken, not that that would surprise anyone who knew him. Nate had managed to get him some clothing that fit, some ridiculous looking pants and a shirt, and after they'd re-wrapped his injury he felt ready to see this giant that Anathema had spoken about. Or as ready as any 8 year old boy could possibly get when facing something relatively unknown on his own.

At least he still had his pistol. He'd wisely kept that information away from Nate and had gone back to retrieve it before he made his way outside. The gun tucked nicely into belt since the holster was over-large for him now, and he walked out of the caravan with purpose.

Of course, he hadn't really thought about the fact he was on a planet's surface for the first time. The Sprawl encircled what little was left of Titan, but the space station itself was hardly on land. Stepping out onto the ground under some actual atmosphere was a very new experience. He looked around with wide eyes for a moment, just taking in the fact that ( ... )

John Doe nodded, picking up his gun again and getting into something that was a bit of a mockery of a soldier's stance at attention, back straight, trying very hard to look serious.

"Yes, the Sergeant is coming!" he announced, and added, "and probably the girl with the spear. I think they wanted to see the giant, too!"

And then, just as if he had been waiting for the most fitting entrance, the Sergeant appeared. That voice, that attitude - unmistakeable. He was close enough to the sergeants he had seen on the news and occasionally in person on Luna, not that he could tell the difference between the ranks just yet.

"There he is!" he called, pointing at the Sergeant. "That's the Sergeant!
"It's me, Sergeant," he explained when the other boy approached, noting the serious face, and trying to make a good impression. That boy was older than him, too. "I'm the Rookie!"
