He found himself going to see Nodoka as quickly as he was able to, making sure there was no evidence of his earlier grief anywhere on his person. It was clear she had been upset by it, though Charley had had no intention of allowing anyone to hear it. He knew there were several things he had to repent for - not only was Master gone, he hadn't been able to control himself - but he didn't know where to begin. Or how to. So, he settled for this: spending time with the girl who had opened up to him in the days he had known her; Charley owed her that much in return ( ... )

Though it was true that Nodoka had been upset by Charley's sadness - not because she was going to cry over it, but because she was worried and sad for him - she refused to let him see it. She knew from experience that seeing the people you care about sad, especially for your sake, often lead to more complications than resolutions; she certainly refused to make things worse for her friend. It was her mission to do her best to take his mind off his sadness and make his day a little brighter, maybe so he can get over his pain as quickly as possible ( ... )
