The storage room, this was where, according to the beast, that the rose was last seen. Of course, not only was he not specific about the details, but he didn't even bother to say which one of the rooms it was in. In the end, it wasn't very helpful. However, that wouldn't stop Cocona from starting her search.
So there she was, roaming around what looked like the storage area, looking for the rose, or at least clues at to where it could have gone. So far she was... rather unsuccessful. This line of work had never really been her forte, but this was ridiculous, she didn't even know where to begin. Looking in the latest room, she quickly realized that she wasn't alone anymore. Momentarily forgetting about her search, she stood in the doorway, staring at the woman who was... well Cocona wasn't quite sure what she was doing, but she was having fun at least.
Cassandra looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps. Slowly, she lowered the mask from her face. Since escaping her cell, she had seen a lot of people, though none that she recognized. Given this particular fact, Cassandra had been, for the most part, ignoring all the other people around her. This wasn't so simple, however, when one came wandering right across her path.
Slowly, she lowered the mask from her face. To someone who had never seen her before, Cassandra's look was a bit startling. She was attractive, but unconventionally so. It was doubtlessly in her eyes. She had dark onyx eyes that were a bit unnaturally wide. This gave her something of a perpetual look of surprise. That is, when Cassandra wasn't narrowing her eyes in consternation. And she wasn't. Not yet, anyway.
Blame it on her personality or or youth, but the woman's look only bought her a rather happy smile from Cocona. "Hello Miss, I'm sorry to bother you. I was just trying to find some clues about the rose. I won't get in your way."
That being said, her eyes did turn away from the woman's face to stare at the strange masks. She had never sen something like that, not even in the fancy shop. Having spent most of her life living in the slums, things like that were inaccessible to her, in fact, this looked like something Lady Cloche would have. She scanned the room around them, quite obviously more interested in the costumes than trying to find the beast's object. Could you blame her though, she was a child after all.
"No," Cassandra answered, taking pains to keep her voice level and even. The last thing she wanted to do was be herself around a child. That would only scare her. "I wasn't looking for the rose. I need clothing."
It seemed a little cruel, somehow, that a child had been taken from her world. It had happened in Rowan, albeit infrequently. At least, there, Cris had been around. Here, Cassandra didn't know who would look after someone so young. Then again, she didn't really know anything about this place. Not yet. She could only hope that her powers of observation would aide her in navigating whatever situation she encountered.
She only hoped it wouldn't involve Jack. Then again, with Ianto around, that was bordering on impossible.
Cassandra noticed the girl eying the masks. Hesitantly, Cassandra held out the red bird mask to her. "Would you like this?"
A wry smile threatened to break Cassandra's lips. If there were anyone in the entirety of existence less capable of relating to, speaking with, or caring for small children, it would be she. And yet, it seemed, that she was drawing them to her this evening. The irony was delightful, Cassandra chose not to grin. No doubt, she would be asked to explain herself and that could not possibly amount to anything good.
Cassandra raised an eyebrow slightly. Years of observing humanity from the outside looking in had taught her a lot about body language. It was the girl's body language that interested her now. It was as though she were trying very hard not to look at something. Just what, Cassandra could not yet begin to suppose. After all, the room was certainly overstimulating, to say the least.
Perhaps she was searching for the rose as well. And hoping that no one else will find it.
No point in dissembling, Cassandra supposed. "If you're looking for the rose, I do not believe you shall find it in here."
