Summary: Cassandra needs some clothing and hopes to find a weapon as well. Uh oh.

When the so-called Beast offered supplies for the masquerade, Cassandra's first thoughts had not been of costumes and feathers and beads. She was far more interested in clean clothing, clothing that did not smell of the forest and the dungeon. For a princess, she had developed a remarkable scrounging ability. She supposed she could attribute that to her months in Rowan. Any opportunity to find clothing could scarcely be wasted, after all. Whether it was found in an old storage room or after falling from the sky onto the sands of the desert, it was an opportunity.

After picking out several pieces that she deemed suitable to create a bit of a wardrobe for herself, Cassandra's attention began to wander. She really couldn't help it. The bright colors and the shimmering snatches of fabric were so beautiful. It was more than a mere appreciation for the artistry of weaving that had gone into them, it was imagining what different combinations would look like together. And so, despite all of her disdain for frilly, frivolous girls, Cassandra found herself exploring the costumes.

The masks held particular interest to her. In Troy and much of the Aegean, masks were only donned in the theatre, when men played parts, the roles of those bigger than themselves. Cassandra had never actually been to the theatre, but it had held such interest for her. When she found a box of masks, she could not resist the opportunity to try them on, one by one. First, a bright gold mask that covered her entire face, hiding behind a bright and cheerful smile. Next, one shaped like the sun with peacock colors and feathers. After that, a red and gold bird's face with a sharp, narrow beak coming down her nose.
