The castle was grander than Sumire had imagined. Perhaps it wasn't the best of idea to explore it alone, but she had seen others around, and Amon had said it was safe (although she wondered if his judgment was truly sound). Her eyes took in all her surroundings as she walked down the hallways, and occasionally she brushed her fingers over the golden bracelet on her wrist ( ... )

Diana paused, looking back to the girl. She didn't recognize her either, but it didn't matter for Diana. She smiled warmly all the same, nodding.

"In a way. I'm heading towards the cells to check and see that the prisoners have been treated well, but I am also looking throughout the castle to at least learn its layout. I doubt I will find the rose our host seeks looking now, but it will save time as I search more thoroughly later."

She wasn't terribly in a hurry, but didn't exactly want to stop looking around. "Would you like to join me? I do not believe we have met, but any assistance in the search would be appreciated."

"Ah, I'd like to if you don't mind. My name is Sumire Takahana." She bowed slightly and stepped closer to the woman. She seemed level-headed and polite, and Sumire felt a smile come upon her lips.

"I hear the prisoners have been released, but I think they'd want some food and water now." She paused for a moment, as if thinking. "I don't really think any of them stole the rose; if they just appeared here, they wouldn't have had a chance to."

"I am Diana," she said warmly, bowing cordially in return. If Sumire hadn't offered a formality first, Diana would have offered a hand to shake. But even that formality was one that was not native to her home. Few were, of course, but it mattered little to Diana.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sumire. And I agree. I accept our host's hospitality with open arms, and I am truly grateful for it, but his anger and suspicion is misguided. Even for those on the Caravan, most I have met have been of outstanding moral character..."

She paused, lingering on the thought. The few that were not, she honestly wondered if they were still around anymore at all. Mentally, she made a note to check on her list to see which people she had been in contact with were still around. "But the prisoners are my first concern, especially since one of them informed me that they had not been given food or water."
