Characters: Sumire Takahana and YOU Setting/Location: Balcony of the Caravan Date & Time: Day 1, morning Warnings: none Summary: Sumire wakes up early and decides to explore the Caravan. Come join her!
Since he no longer slept, he hadn't really seen the point of spending the night in his assigned room -- especially since he doubted his assigned roommate would be particularly comforted by an undead roommate with glowing orange eyes. So, instead, he'd spent the night wandering the halls of the caravan, finally settling into an unobtrusive corner of the balcony a few hours before dawn.
He glanced up as the unfamiliar girl moved to the railing, and smiled thinly when he overheard her words. "They aren't."
He cocked his head thoughtfully. "It seems very comfortable. There's a lot of room to move around, which will be nice when we're moving." Especially since it gave him room to roam around without disturbing people.
"It is really roomy. Though, I'm little worried that after a while it might start feeling constrained." She paused for a moment as another thought popped into her mind. "I hope this won't be too uncomfortable for those who get motion sickness."
He closed his eyes for a moment, trying and failing to recall the sensation of motion sickness. Like everything else about his life, it was apparently forgotten.
"I hope the same thing. As large as the caravan is, though, I doubt the giant can get it moving too fast." He opened his eyes and glanced up at the towering form of Grandore. "Not that I know much about the top speeds of a giant, admittedly."
She followed his gaze toward Grandore. She still hadn't gotten used to his presence, and his massive form made her feel insignificant; she realized she probably did look like a bug compared to him.
"I don't think he'd be moving that fast. It'd be too dangerous, especially on an uneven surface."
"Exactly. I doubt this Way-Warrant person would want the whole caravan to tip over on its side."
He actually still had doubts about Cid Amon's intentions and his precise role in bringing the travelers to Williknapp -- but, at the very least, the man didn't seem inclined to do them any immediate harm. Capsizing the caravan would probably fall into that category. He glanced down at Sumire with a very faint smile. "So I don't think any of you will have to worry about motion sickness."
"That would definitely be disastrous." The mental image of that did frighten her a bit, especially as she could barely see the top of the caravan from where she was standing.
She pushed those thoughts out of her mind. "The Way-Warrant seems really eager to take us all to Loophole, so he probably has ensured our safety and comfort. I wonder how he'd deal with trouble-makers."
"It's a good question." He replied. "Someone was on the Junogam yesterday talking about putting together a defense force of sorts. I don't know whether they'd be the ones to deal with internal trouble, or if the Way-Warrant has something in place." It was definitely something to look into further; this many people in close quarters made it almost inevitable that conflicts of some kind would arise.
"I saw that, and I think it's a good idea, although there's not much I could do to help them." She pushed herself off the railing and turned around to lean her back against it. "The Way-Warrant probably wants to create a sense of community by relying on volunteers to keep things running smoothly."
"It would be a good strategy." He mused. Then he glanced down at her. "I guess a couple of volunteer librarians would help out with that, wouldn't you think?"
"Yeah, that could." She looked up at him. "I'm sure there would be a few people interested in that. Maybe once the caravan gets some books we can put a network post up."
He nodded, giving her a small but genuine smile. "Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't know who we'd ask about using one of the empty rooms; the information desk, maybe?"
"If not the information desk, they can at least tell us who to ask." Sumire let out a quiet laugh. "This will definitely give us something to do during our stay here."
"Yes, it will." Of course, he'd probably also be busy accompanying Hanna in investigating exactly how they'd all ended up here -- but that couldn't take up all day every day, and he was pleased at the prospect of something else to devote some time and attention to. "I like the idea of having a useful project to work on."
He glanced up as the unfamiliar girl moved to the railing, and smiled thinly when he overheard her words. "They aren't."
