FIRST of all, breathe. Second; go to the library and get books on homeschooling. Third; with your children as old as they are if they are home, THEY do chores. I have 9 children, 8 are homeschooled (The oldest is going to be going to job corp... he's 17 and has issues that have to do with public school stuff

I can only talk from my own experience (adding whatever comments others have told me), but by far, the biggest hurdle to homeschooling is deciding to do it. Once started, most of the stress dropped away

Breath! In-out-in-out... Sit down, relax. Yes, it is doable. No, it is not a dream :)
How much time do your kids spend at school now? My guess is from the time they leave home till they come back it is about 7-8 hours, right? They WILL NOT need that much time to work on their own! When you don't have to wait for everybody in the class to get it, things move MUCH faster. Which means that your kids will have at least an extra hour (more likely two) to help around the house. So as a result, your life might become easier, not harder.
One advice, though: set up a schedule for each kid from the get go and include laundry, cleaning dishes and whatever else your kids do around the house along with math and history lessons. Just mix them up - one hour of study, 30 min of house work, couple more hours of study.

Follow the advice of the previous posters, then find local help. A few years ago, I thought we were moving to OH, but we stayed in TX. TX is EASY! Go to this site: http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/OH/ If you can afford it, join. Then, find a local group where you can talk with other homeschooling parents every week or even every day! Believe me, it helps
