1. Describe your comfort zone-a typical you-vid.
A typical me-vid would probably be something half the audience would have to close their eyes for. I tend to gravitate towards the visceral, an expression of emotional character journeys and general D-R-A-M-A. If the vid makes ME feel, then that's the comfort zone. My comfort zone is forever trying to get my audience to feel the FEELS.

22. Have you ever deleted one of your published vids?
Never. Even though the early ones obv show some growing pains (I look at my Farscape vids and can easily spot when I didn't know how to zoom or punch into a clip myself so I had to use the show's own wide, medium, close up shots!), I still want to have a record of my progression. I think I made this rule by the second vid I ever posted; that I'd never delete them so I can learn from them. Also, to put things in perspective, a filmmaker never "deletes" their films once they're released, even if they get all the Razzies ever lol.

27. Do you accept prompts?Ugh, I suppose the honest answer is that no, ( ... )

I hear you about prompts. I've made people vids before and I had to be In The Zooone for anything to actually come out of Vegas. lol

2. Is there a genre or style you've yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
Ugh YES. Meet my nemesis, After Effects. I still have to get fluent in this sucker and yet, AND YET every time I sit down to try and learn something, I feel like I could be so much more productive actually vidding. alkjbaslkfblk! Endless spiral of hate and confusion. :(((

7. Point to a section from one of your favorite vids you've made and explain why you're proud of it.
Jfc, how am I supposed to answer this?! You can't pick a favorite child! (Yes you can..) I might have to do several, is that breaking the rules?

Art Bitch - Not only do I have strong Vividcon associations with this vid (first ever VVC and first ever partay on the dance floor/Club Vivid premiere!!) but mah girl, deej made all those AMAZING art pieces for the vid! And it was my first foray into thinking outside the box when it came to vidding so I love that it actually worked out!

Signed, The Doctor - The whole thing is my fav tbh. It's something I still can't quite believe that exists? I ( ... )

<3 art bitch. I want to write poems for that. And now that I know deej was involved it's 1000x better.

I have the same reaction to Signed, The Doctor, which is funny because I had never seen DW at the time.

6. Share one of your weaknesses.
I'm not as fluent in After Effects as I need to be and that sucks balls. :/

12. What's the best vidding advice you've ever come across?
In one of those anon vidding memes ages ago obsessive24 flat out told me that in one particular vid of mine I used some effects in a section for no reason except to go with the beat and I was like PFFT, NO! And then I took another look and was like OH...yeah I did. So that really changed the way I looked at effects. (If only this advice was there for most of the YouTube vidding circle, amirite?)

26. Share three of your favorite vidders and why you like them so much.

So many vidders inspire me. SO MANY!

obsessive24 - I wanna say my first Nicky vid was Jesus for the Jugular? Maybe not, but that vid blew mah mind grapes. She was the first vidder I saw do things that I didn't know you could do with a vid. Use the source credits and promos to emphasize themes in your vid??? *GASP* WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?!?! And those zooms she does? Mmmmm. *touches self* She thinks story first and that's why ( ... )

Hah, people keep telling me this kind of stories and I have no memory of saying any of that, but apparently I was quite the bitch back then. Well, I still am, but I'm less mouthy about it. :P

5. Share one of your strengths.
Hmm. I wanna say I'm pretty good at finding vid songs. I actually love doing it. Bc your vid and your idea grows from that song, so it has to be perfect.

21. If you were to revise one of your older vids from start to finish, which would it be and why?
Funny you asked this one! Technically speaking, I have a rule where I specifically don't wanna remake any of the old ones bc I'm supposed to learn from them etc ,etc. BUT if I were to break that rule, I'd definitely go for (boulevard) of broken songs bc that's the one that has so much going for it, but also these GLARING MISTAKES that make me wanna shake myself by the shoulders all, "What were you thinking?!" (See previous answer to see what I mean ;)).

34. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?Sure. If you put your stuff on YouTube and leave the comments enabled, you're definitely gonna get some crazy stuff. I've never gotten any that are super rude, but there have been hilarious confused ones and a person who was very mad that I ( ... )

The more I vid and see people's reactions - even reactions from really experienced vidders - the more cynical I become and think that song choice really accounts for like 99% of the emotional response. In that respect it's a pretty key skill! You always nail it. I envy your music collection.

I hear ya with the Russian fanboys. Do you ever follow the urge to respond and defend yourself when you feel like what they say has gone beyond subjective opinion?

But that's the thing! The best vidders manipulate the already existing emotion that comes with the song to their advantage. They elevate the emotional response with the visuals they layer on top of it all. It has to be a perfect marriage, but it absolutely can't be without the vidder actively shaping it via visuals. That's why the greatest vids tend to not have "obvious" music choice imo. I think you very much think outside the box with your music and that's probs why I fall so hard for your vids. And I think, for the most part, we have the same music collection so that also helps lol. ;)

I hear ya with the Russian fanboys. Do you ever follow the urge to respond and defend yourself when you feel like what they say has gone beyond subjective opinion?I mean you always have the urge to fight for your work, especially bc you know better than anyone what it's about/what it's doing and how hard you worked on it. But I don't engage with them, no. It's difficult to prove to a fanboy that he is wrong. And basically they're wrong most of the ( ... )

Okaaaaay.

2. Is there a genre or style you've yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
I want to do more experimental stuff that uses a lot of After Effects thingies and quotes and filters and all sorts of crazypants effects! Wait, am I trying to say I wanna make a YouTube vid?? D:

3. Is there a genre or style you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole?
YouTube vids.. (Bonus answer: boy slash!)

4. How many vid ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Like 20 or something?! Prolly more. IT'S ENDLESS UGH. My newest obsession is vidding Outlander to "Raspberry Swirl" by Tori Amos for Club Vivid.

19. How many times do you usually revise your vid before posting?
I revise as I go so it's difficult to say. But I have to be fully satisfied with it all before I even move to the color correcting phase, and that ALSO has to have a few passes before the vid is deemed done-zo. UGH VIDDING IS DIFFICULT AND ANNOYING WHY DO WE DO IT??? :(

31. Which is your favorite site for posting vids?I suppose now it's YouTube, but ( ... )
