Yes, but monthly isn't daily! I want to get out for 3 miles 4 times a week - 3 miles of (very) brisk walking is enough to break a sweat, even at this time of year :-P
I wouldn't do that much running though since thats way harder on ankle, knee and hip joints ... probably 3 miles twice a week would suffice.
