I just walked a couple blocks to the local QFC to pick up a sandwich and anana for eating purposes, and back again. And it was probably the hardest hike I have been on in my LIFE. I've used crutches for brief periods before, but actually walking on the things for any distance (in the rain no less, I slipped twice) is like swinging from the monkey ( Read more... )

Oh, you poor thing! That sounds miserable.

I've been on crutches for periods of time, and I know that slipping thing you're talking about. It's dreadful. I would always try to catch myself with my bad foot and that was sometimes more pain than I could tolerate.

I had to hobble from 1st Avenue, in Downtown Seattle from a bustop, up to 4th Avenue. With two good legs, it was a piece of cake, but on crutches with a smashed and broken big toe, it was agony.

I really hope that you get through this quickly. Be HEALED!

And yes, Dexter is a great show. He's a time bomb, but you gotta love him somehow. I wonder how this baby-thing is going to play out?

Dexter is indeed awesome. He kinda reminds me of you.

Well, I'm not a sociopath! But I do identify with him in a lot of ways... his detachment, his perspective on things, the work he goes through to understand people and the way he understands them (as an observer) - I watch the relationships on the show (or most shows) and even his relationship with Rita is the only one that makes much sense to me. He's a character who I see echoes of me in.

It's interesting that you say that, with such a relatively small window of experience with me.

I never trusted that Lila girl, though. Not a bit of it. Also, I'm way funnier. Ha!

Well, tomorrow I am going in for my post-op, and hopefully they will have some more for me. Thus far all that is really know is there was some sort of mass in my foot, and that possibly irritated the ankle and created the massive infection that swarmed my foot. Mostly though, everyone says "That's weird" or "That's really strange!" and putters off with their x-rays and slides.

Thanks for the offer! I've been fairly well taken care of so far. I am trying to arrange a ride home from my post-op, but I suspect I can get one of my nearby minions to do it. We should try and rouse Scott with a poking-stick and hang out sometime, though.

May your ankle suffer no inexplicable maladies!

A couple blocks my arse! That's like a mile walk each way.
How's the ankle now?

My ankle has been improving annoyingly slowly, almost too slowly to see from my perspective. But it has been getting better... I walked home from work today, just to prove I could, and I've been galumphing around my Mom's house without too much trouble (did I mention I. am Grandma-sitting? Though I am back here till saturday eve). Towards the end of the day I tend to whip out the cane again, though.
