Sharing the Pain of the In Progress stories

Feb 08, 2010 09:09

So both tanarian and teachwriteslash have stepped up and admitted the list of in-progress stories they have. I wanted to show them that they aren't alone. So here's the stack of what's not moving here at the Casa (I live in California, we're allowed to use Spanish) in honor of Teach's birthday.

Good Luck.

Every time I even think of writing anything TW, RTD does something to annoy me again (like this weekend), or BBCA runs a TW marathon and I have to listen to Gwen shrieking and whinging.

Well, in defence, most of these stuck-in-progress pieces were started before the Series-that-shall-not-be-named even aired. At least the longer ones.

I honestly don't rewatch shows, especially TW, since that usually leads to noticing just how poorly written they really are.

*g* Notice how I've not written anything TW or DW in a while? Yeah... I'm trying to get back into it now and with someone having won me over at help_haiti . I'm about to begin again. But yeah... I've more or less decided to ignore COE and large swathes of season 2 in order to do it.

I'm looking forward to the Tosh/Ianto friendship one.

I just figured you were engulfed in being Viper, attorney at large.

I completely agree with disregarding that mini-series that they slapped the TW name on. Talk about RTD throwing a little princess tantrum.

Hopefully you'll be spurred into maybe adding to existing stories, like the Ianto/HP cross over?

The Ianto/Tosh will finish, dammit.

Alas... I'm sitting on my duff hoping to find a job rather than working. Law market has not yet perked up.

Yes, RTD and his princess tantrum. I was moderately pleased that End of Time didn't suck as much as I had feared it might.

Ha! The Ianto/HP one gave me a headache. I have something like 11K of it written. But... I don't really like it. So I need to go back and take a look at it and see what I can do with it because it should have been finished months ago. Actually, my goal this year, writing wise, is to finish the various fics I've started, which includes that one. I might even go for the prequel to that series, which would be amazing. Or at least I think so. It's tempting to return to it though, what with the sudden outpouring of HP/TW crosses.

the TW/HP crossovers were thanks to jantocam and the January challenge. but if you think about it, they are an oddly well matched crossover.

Sorry you haven't had any luck finding something, have you checked with the big legal temp firms? I know a friend of mine has very steady work doing big case reviews. Normal hours and steady pay, but not a lot of 'real law' practiced.

I feel your pain, my friend, I really do...my in progress list is very similar. I've got so many fics either started or ideas for them written on scraps of paper that my brain rebels and says 'No, I refuse' and nothing ends up getting done. I'm amazed I got the first part of Teach's b-day fic done and posted on time LOL

I stopped writing 'for fun' stuff down because I don't want even more stuck-in-progress stuff.

Maybe this is some sort of delayed ADD flare?

Hmmm...could be. What's my excuse though? I have ADD LOL Well, that could be an explaination in and of itself...easily distracted. Oooh, look! Shiny object!

well, from what was explained to me, an ADD flare can actually cause a person to become utterly incapable of doing anything because there are too many things to be done. it's kinda like an overload burning out a fuse.

I have learned two things - PWP is not happening and short is impossible. I offered 750 word fics for Help_haiti that are going to be 3 to 4 times that if not more.

No wonder I mainline coffee... oh the wizard one should be fun....

Well, happy birthday Missy. I wish I could throw the genetic anomaly and his offspring and breeding partner out for you, but we'll just have to commiserate.

PWP is possible, but I've not tried any lately. 750 words for you? That's the outline, right? I just can't imagine with your writing style that ever working.

Caffertol tablets sound like they're in your future. (Caffertol was a high concentration caffeine tablet designed for people with narcolepsy. I'm pretty sure they were pulled off the market when less illustrious people discovered they worked better than speed.)

Thank you! I lack the gene for plot, what plot. Just ask Caz. She's tried and found it hopeless.

I think I'd miss squatter baby ... she looks at her parents like "where did these two come from."

When she stands by my door yelling Auntie, Auntie, I'm done for.

That, and I'm training her to be a liberal.

I have had outlines go over 1000 words easy.

Right now the poison of choice is Cafe Con Leche. I spent over a week in Miami for work. I went with a friend to order one at one of those corner coffee shops and said "strong." The Cuban gentleman looked at me funny and my friend, who is Cuban, fired off something in Spanish that made him laugh. He made it strong.

Yeah - I thought about a certain TV show and you while I was there.

You need to get the baby a little t-shirt that says, "Vegan Baby for Gun Control". Maybe that will send the sperm donor and his breeding partner packing.

Cuban coffee... shudder. Turpentine with brown coloring added.

Not working on that show this season, can't bring myself to go back to Florida.

Works-not-in-progress is more like it. I kid you not, some of those have been sitting for nearly 2 years. It's sad.

OH wow...that is a long time for them to be sitting. I have two vids like that...they've been languishing for months. And I have two WIPs that have been sitting for at least a year. *sigh*
