You bring up very fine points indeed, and I would encourage you to see if you can discover more properties to dragon's blood. That said, I would also caution you to be careful about how you would go about these experiments. Dragon's blood can be a very volatile substance; you certainly wouldn't want to dump it onto your hair immediately.

Hello all fanfic readers! It’s the time again to have a look at what hh_sugarquill has to offer us.
Looking for something to read, but have no idea where to start from? Here are some recommendations on where to start. If you are in the mood for something angsty, Avi/flyingharmony gives us Such Terrible Silence, a beautifully written but yet sad fic featuring Narcissa. If you are looking for something happier, then Crystal/bluemermaid has given us The Name Of Black, which features another Black sister, Andromeda. Last but not least, if Neville/Ginny is your favourite pairing, you should read A Day In Bed by Whitney/csichick_2.
The first Saturday Special for October was simply themed “run”. Yaakov/yaakov interpreted the prompt with Fear And Error, a Ravenclaw-centric fic with Padma as the main character. Johanna/monkiainen gave us With Every Single Beat Of My Heart, which follows the course of Fleur and Bill’s relationship over the years. One prompt, two completely different stories.
Writer’s Block #2 is up! The theme for the current Writer’s Block is to write a fic using the theme of "perserverance". You still have a few days to participate, as the deadline is on 15 October 2014, 11:59pm UTC. Submit your fic here.
October prompts are also up! The theme of this month is one-word-prompts - I’m looking forward to how people will interpret these prompts. Go and see the October prompts for yourself - maybe one of them catches your attention.

Let's not waste any time and get right down to business, shall we? Challenge 3 was all about the bigger graphics over at sortedchallenge. First place went to Meg/partitioning of Ravenclaw with a great Nymphadora graphic.
Slytherins came in both second and third place with Tiffany/growling and Jenna/jennashaped respectively. Caitie/caitieness of Hufflepuff won the special category of "best use of texture". Stop by to check out all of the winning graphics. With Challenge 4, the mods simplified with an icon base challenge. It was almost a Slytherin sweep! Ravenclaw's Bei/sapphoatsunset of Ravenclaw, who came in first place, is the only non-Slytherin. Tiffany/growling came in second place again, while Olivia/ohcaptain came in third place. Jenna/jennashaped won the special award.
To those past winners of Challenge 1, 2 and 3 who requested banners, come on over and pick them up.

To start our Clubs edition, let's give a shout-out to Crystal/bluemermaid of Hufflepuff as the new Clubs co-mod. Welcome to the nonstop place to be for Clubs!
With the end of September and into October, we had knuts deposited, so don't forget to make sure you have all your Clubs bonus items. Those bonus points really can add up for your house! You can find out here at the Bonus Items Registry if you are missing anything.
Also, when knuts were deposited, so were the Owls for last term. You can check out your Owned items to see how many you earned for Clubs activities last term. Not sure what these little gems are? Read about them here. Sadly I had none :( Bad Puff BUT I did happen to check out Beth/prongsy of Gryffindor, who was the most active for Term 29 and she had all 24 Owls! Way to go!

Things are off to a grand start for Animagus this term, with some great things to check out!
Results are in for September's second activity, Find the Animagi, with placings as follows:
1st Place: Evy/slumber of Ravenclaw completed the puzzle in 47 minutes
2nd Place: Nikki/nowheretogo26 of Hufflepuff completed the puzzle in 1 hour and 15 minutes
3rd Place: William/mmailliw of Slytherin completed the puzzle in 1 hour and 20 minutes
Don't forget to sign up for a partner and complete October's first activity: Wanted Animagus. It's a super cute idea that only requires a hand drawn picture of your dear animagus friend. This one will end on Oct 17, 11:59pm UTC so you have a little bit of time. Voting on the October batch is up here. You have until 11p UTC on October 27.
There is now a trophy case for Animagus! There are some adorable badges to be had for voting and any of the other activities. Check out the Trophy Cabinet over here.
It's not required to have your own animagus form to participate in any of the Wilderness activities, but there are always bonus points to be had, and who doesn't want a spirit animal? If you haven't participated in a while, you might want to check HERE to make sure that you are still registered, and if you have been taken off the list but want to reclaim your animal, just go HERE. If you no longer feel connected to your form (and have had it for six months or more) then you can submit an essay stating why that is to be able to apply for a new form; once you're approved you can submit a new application anytime.
Speaking of applications, anyone interested in becoming a registered animagus need only fill out their application (you have to have The Standard Book of Spells Vol 1-3 from Flourish and Blotts, too, but that's easy stuff).

Hogsmeade is less than a week away!
The most helpful post for the weekend will be the Schedule and Banner Info. There are three banners to be earned this weekend: the Regular Banner made by Meg/partitioning, the Awesome Banner made by Crystal/bluemermaid, and the Superawesome Banner made by Tiffany/growling. There are also a number of badges to be earned - including a mystery badge - that can be turned into a sigtag when the weekend is over.
Speaking of sigtags, don’t forget about Flourish at Hogsmeade. Information specific to the weekend can be found here. All four houses have spots open, but Slytherin especially could use some sign-ups. You can find that information here. If you’re not sure if your tags fit the theme, you can ask at the Tag Check Post.

Mars, a red, glowering psychopath of a planet with two henchmen moons called Deimos and Phobos (fear and loathing). Tiny but menacing, this is the driving force behind your star sign. Is it surprising that Mars was named for the god of war and that you tend to the aggressive on the dark side just like Mars? Doesn’t surprise me at all!

Do you think you’re acting like a selfish Wall Street tool? Maybe you should blame your planet. Venus, a politically correct version of the greedy and romantic Aphrodite, is definitely named after a goddess that is renowned for going after what she wants with a single-minded determination that is unmatched. And you’re right! Sharing the planet Venus with Taurus, for you, this lovestruck planet has power-sloth moocher down pat, and so do you. When it takes 243 Earth days for Venus to complete one full axis twirl, you know there’s not a planet that could fit your lazy, and materialistic, whims better.

Oh Scorpio, you sexy sadist. You better be glad that scientists discovered Pluto - and yes, it is still a planet, dammit! - because before that, you shared a bit of Mars. After all, until there were telescopes, people were only aware of 5 planets so Mars was the best (if obvious) choice. But Pluto, there’s the perfect fit in a mysterious loner, a dense space iceberg that orbits with menacing slowness and sometimes can’t be seen at all. And of course, let’s take your Roman god, Pluto, (upgraded version of Hades) into consideration. Are you feeling like an Underworld ruler today? That’s probably your Pluto acting up again!

In touch with your inner class clown lately? Is everyone pissed off at you and you don’t know why? Well, let me give you a bit of 411 on your planet. Jupiter, once shared with Pisces as well, is the fifth planet from the sun, and it tends to roll around its orbit like a hippo in a hamster ball - that is to say: exceedingly fast. And that’s really your approach to life too, isn’t it?

Did I just see that your petition to ban workplace smiling has gained five more signatures? Did you get those through intimidation? Either way, you can count this a fabulous day, and give a metaphorical pat on the back to your planet, Saturn. You used to have to share this planet with Aquarius, but they left unexpectedly and gave no forwarding address. Good riddance on their lack of respect! Saturn was originally named after a pre-Roman god of agriculture, but soon became associated with Cronos, the father of the Olympic gods who castrated his own father to get his hands on power faster. Sound familiar? *wink*
Aquarius
After you left Saturn behind, you zeroed in on quirky Uranus. Even its name is a play on words (actually it’s not but everyone with third-grade humor thinks of that first.) What’s really odd about Uranus (the planet, gais!) is that it’s tilted to a perfect 98 degrees, which means it spends time sunning one pole before sunning the other. To top it off, it has dark mysterious rings that never show up on camera, and named after the Greek God Oeranos who had not a single temple to his name. Luckily you don’t enjoy deference anyways!
Pisces
Jupiter was never a good fit for you as it was far too jolly, but nebulous, unfocused, wet Neptune is the perfect replacement. And, of course, you know it’s a troublemaker. It was only discovered because it kept affecting Uranus’s orbit and leading it astray. Its unpredictable moon count, and half-hearted ring system, are a perfect fit for your love of murky underlayers and the ability to bring people up just to watch them fall back down.

1. What do you think is the story behind the shop name?
Mary/crusading_soul: Based on the first image in the shop, likely something to do with Lucius Malfoy plus a spell from the HP-verse.
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I mean a - the name is awesome. Accio I think is my most favorite spell because I'm lazy as all f&%$, to be honest. And b - I think, I'm pretty sure it's just because Malfoy is such a beloved character to some and they just really want them some Malfoy to come at their beck and call :)
2. Which three tags in the shop are your favorite?

Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: There are so many great different catagories already! But I'd love to see maybe some potions related tags :) I think those would be lovely!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Krystal/autumn_mist: Well, mine is quite simple! I would totally leave my husband for Lucius Malfoy. I love the Malfoy family and I totally lose my keys all of the time and occasionally need to summon things. So I figured I would combine my favorite spell, Accio, with my favorite family, Malfoy.
(or to be completely cracky... I hope that if I Accio Malfoy enough, Lucius will come zooming into my bedroom)!
1. What do you think is the story behind the shop name?
Mary/crusading_soul: The shop owner likely enjoys knitting and wanted to spice that up with a HP-verse term. :)
Krystal/autumn_mist: They like to knit and would appreciate a knitted cauldron to hang on their fridge to keep important recipes or phone numbers? I have no idea!
2. Which three tags in the shop are your favorite?
Mary/crusading_soul: Loving the font on this one!

Mary/crusading_soul: Your house pride line is ridiculously cute; I'd love to see more! Also, more seasonal stuff would be cool!
Krystal/autumn_mist: Custom orders. Honestly...there is nothing that I can think of that this shopkeeper wouldn't do an awesome job with!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: The story behind my name is really awful. Haha. SO I love to knit. A lot. Like on my commute every day on the subway, or at home, or at work when I'm bored, and I have five big bins of yarn and my sister put an embargo on Michaels for me, cause I can't buy anymore yarn. And it was the name of a shop I had thrown to a friend. They were opening a real life shop of goodies on Etsy, and were trying to think of a name. They wanted something to do with knitting and then also witchy, so I was like what about the Knitted Cauldron? While they liked it, they didn't go with it, and I liked it enough I kept it in the back of my head. So when it came time to open a shop of my own, I really had only one choice. Although I did consider other options (Gobbledygook being one). But I ended on The Knitted Cauldron. It was cutesy, and that's the kind of tags I like to make :) I also like vintage-looking things, so was trying to go for that in my shop name.
1. What do you think is the story behind the shop name?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I think the story behind this shop's name is that it's a resurgent catalog, as taken from the point in Chamber of Secrets, where the Phoenix song lifts Harry's spirits up when you think all is lost.
Krystal/autumn_mist: The Phoenix song is a potent thing. Especially when Dumbledore died and the whole world cried.
2. Which three tags in the shop are your favorite?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: OMG there are so many lovely tags to choose from. First, I love the layout, and love how it looks. Even though I can't take it, I love it with this one:
Absolutely gorgeous.
I really love the snitch cake pop.
Also I LOVE the wand one and love that it's totally customized. Such a great idea!
Krystal/autumn_mist: Her entire House Pride section. I can't pick just one! Each house is represented, the different options are incredible. I especially love how she has the "mascots" as well as the "houses" represented.
Her custom wand option is amazing! I love the fact that I can either create my own wand/meanings, or I can give her the ones I got in my stamping.
The heart shape was one thing, it was so unique and awesome. But the way it was laid out with cookie monster was just awesome!
3. What kind of tags would you love to see from the shopkeeper?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I'd love to see all sorts of tags! Her work is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see more of the other house tags, but maybe some more animal tags, and maybe some ocean tags? Her boat ones she's done for the Vikings and the Pirates are pretty top notch.
Krystal/autumn_mist: Customs again, but honestly, she has a way of finding and creating beautiful tags that everyone loves. I don't think she will have a problem coming up with new things!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Mary/crusading_soul: The story behind my shop's name is that I wanted to name it after a magical creature. I was rewatching CoS at the time and was like, hey, Fawkes is cool - let's name this something after phoenixes. I added Song of the in there because it sounded nice and only saying Phoenixes just sounded a little too short for me.

You bring up very fine points indeed, and I would encourage you to see if you can discover more properties to dragon's blood. That said, I would also caution you to be careful about how you would go about these experiments. Dragon's blood can be a very volatile substance; you certainly wouldn't want to dump it onto your hair immediately.

Hello all fanfic readers! It’s the time again to have a look at what hh_sugarquill has to offer us.
Looking for something to read, but have no idea where to start from? Here are some recommendations on where to start. If you are in the mood for something angsty, Avi/flyingharmony gives us Such Terrible Silence, a beautifully written but yet sad fic featuring Narcissa. If you are looking for something happier, then Crystal/bluemermaid has given us The Name Of Black, which features another Black sister, Andromeda. Last but not least, if Neville/Ginny is your favourite pairing, you should read A Day In Bed by Whitney/csichick_2.
The first Saturday Special for October was simply themed “run”. Yaakov/yaakov interpreted the prompt with Fear And Error, a Ravenclaw-centric fic with Padma as the main character. Johanna/monkiainen gave us With Every Single Beat Of My Heart, which follows the course of Fleur and Bill’s relationship over the years. One prompt, two completely different stories.
Writer’s Block #2 is up! The theme for the current Writer’s Block is to write a fic using the theme of "perserverance". You still have a few days to participate, as the deadline is on 15 October 2014, 11:59pm UTC. Submit your fic here.
October prompts are also up! The theme of this month is one-word-prompts - I’m looking forward to how people will interpret these prompts. Go and see the October prompts for yourself - maybe one of them catches your attention.

Let's not waste any time and get right down to business, shall we? Challenge 3 was all about the bigger graphics over at sortedchallenge. First place went to Meg/partitioning of Ravenclaw with a great Nymphadora graphic.
Slytherins came in both second and third place with Tiffany/growling and Jenna/jennashaped respectively. Caitie/caitieness of Hufflepuff won the special category of "best use of texture". Stop by to check out all of the winning graphics. With Challenge 4, the mods simplified with an icon base challenge. It was almost a Slytherin sweep! Ravenclaw's Bei/sapphoatsunset of Ravenclaw, who came in first place, is the only non-Slytherin. Tiffany/growling came in second place again, while Olivia/ohcaptain came in third place. Jenna/jennashaped won the special award.
To those past winners of Challenge 1, 2 and 3 who requested banners, come on over and pick them up.

To start our Clubs edition, let's give a shout-out to Crystal/bluemermaid of Hufflepuff as the new Clubs co-mod. Welcome to the nonstop place to be for Clubs!
With the end of September and into October, we had knuts deposited, so don't forget to make sure you have all your Clubs bonus items. Those bonus points really can add up for your house! You can find out here at the Bonus Items Registry if you are missing anything.
Also, when knuts were deposited, so were the Owls for last term. You can check out your Owned items to see how many you earned for Clubs activities last term. Not sure what these little gems are? Read about them here. Sadly I had none :( Bad Puff BUT I did happen to check out Beth/prongsy of Gryffindor, who was the most active for Term 29 and she had all 24 Owls! Way to go!

Things are off to a grand start for Animagus this term, with some great things to check out!
Results are in for September's second activity, Find the Animagi, with placings as follows:
1st Place: Evy/slumber of Ravenclaw completed the puzzle in 47 minutes
2nd Place: Nikki/nowheretogo26 of Hufflepuff completed the puzzle in 1 hour and 15 minutes
3rd Place: William/mmailliw of Slytherin completed the puzzle in 1 hour and 20 minutes
Don't forget to sign up for a partner and complete October's first activity: Wanted Animagus. It's a super cute idea that only requires a hand drawn picture of your dear animagus friend. This one will end on Oct 17, 11:59pm UTC so you have a little bit of time. Voting on the October batch is up here. You have until 11p UTC on October 27.
There is now a trophy case for Animagus! There are some adorable badges to be had for voting and any of the other activities. Check out the Trophy Cabinet over here.
It's not required to have your own animagus form to participate in any of the Wilderness activities, but there are always bonus points to be had, and who doesn't want a spirit animal? If you haven't participated in a while, you might want to check HERE to make sure that you are still registered, and if you have been taken off the list but want to reclaim your animal, just go HERE. If you no longer feel connected to your form (and have had it for six months or more) then you can submit an essay stating why that is to be able to apply for a new form; once you're approved you can submit a new application anytime.
Speaking of applications, anyone interested in becoming a registered animagus need only fill out their application (you have to have The Standard Book of Spells Vol 1-3 from Flourish and Blotts, too, but that's easy stuff).

Hogsmeade is less than a week away!
The most helpful post for the weekend will be the Schedule and Banner Info. There are three banners to be earned this weekend: the Regular Banner made by Meg/partitioning, the Awesome Banner made by Crystal/bluemermaid, and the Superawesome Banner made by Tiffany/growling. There are also a number of badges to be earned - including a mystery badge - that can be turned into a sigtag when the weekend is over.
Speaking of sigtags, don’t forget about Flourish at Hogsmeade. Information specific to the weekend can be found here. All four houses have spots open, but Slytherin especially could use some sign-ups. You can find that information here. If you’re not sure if your tags fit the theme, you can ask at the Tag Check Post.

Mars, a red, glowering psychopath of a planet with two henchmen moons called Deimos and Phobos (fear and loathing). Tiny but menacing, this is the driving force behind your star sign. Is it surprising that Mars was named for the god of war and that you tend to the aggressive on the dark side just like Mars? Doesn’t surprise me at all!

And you’re right! Sharing the planet Venus with Taurus, for you, this lovestruck planet has power-sloth moocher down pat, and so do you. When it takes 243 Earth days for Venus to complete one full axis twirl, you know there’s not a planet that could fit your lazy, and materialistic, whims better.

Oh Scorpio, you sexy sadist. You better be glad that scientists discovered Pluto - and yes, it is still a planet, dammit! - because before that, you shared a bit of Mars. After all, until there were telescopes, people were only aware of 5 planets so Mars was the best (if obvious) choice. But Pluto, there’s the perfect fit in a mysterious loner, a dense space iceberg that orbits with menacing slowness and sometimes can’t be seen at all. And of course, let’s take your Roman god, Pluto, (upgraded version of Hades) into consideration. Are you feeling like an Underworld ruler today? That’s probably your Pluto acting up again!

In touch with your inner class clown lately? Is everyone pissed off at you and you don’t know why? Well, let me give you a bit of 411 on your planet. Jupiter, once shared with Pisces as well, is the fifth planet from the sun, and it tends to roll around its orbit like a hippo in a hamster ball - that is to say: exceedingly fast. And that’s really your approach to life too, isn’t it?

Did I just see that your petition to ban workplace smiling has gained five more signatures? Did you get those through intimidation? Either way, you can count this a fabulous day, and give a metaphorical pat on the back to your planet, Saturn. You used to have to share this planet with Aquarius, but they left unexpectedly and gave no forwarding address. Good riddance on their lack of respect! Saturn was originally named after a pre-Roman god of agriculture, but soon became associated with Cronos, the father of the Olympic gods who castrated his own father to get his hands on power faster. After you left Saturn behind, you zeroed in on quirky Uranus. Even its name is a play on words (actually it’s not but everyone with third-grade humor thinks of that first.) What’s really odd about Uranus (the planet, gais!) is that it’s tilted to a perfect 98 degrees, which means it spends time sunning one pole before sunning the other. To top it off, it has dark mysterious rings that never show up on camera, and named after the Greek God Oeranos who had not a single temple to his name. Luckily you don’t enjoy deference anyways!
Pisces
Jupiter was never a good fit for you as it was far too jolly, but nebulous, unfocused, wet Neptune is the perfect replacement. And, of course, you know it’s a troublemaker. It was only discovered because it kept affecting Uranus’s orbit and leading it astray. Its unpredictable moon count, and half-hearted ring system, are a perfect fit for your love of murky underlayers and the ability to bring people up just to watch them fall back down.

1. What do you think is the story behind the shop name?
Mary/crusading_soul: Based on the first image in the shop, likely something to do with Lucius Malfoy plus a spell from the HP-verse.
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I mean a - the name is awesome. Accio I think is my most favorite spell because I'm lazy as all f&%$, to be honest. And b - I think, I'm pretty sure it's just because Malfoy is such a beloved character to some and they just really want them some Malfoy to come at their beck and call :)
2. Which three tags in the shop are your favorite?

Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: There are so many great different catagories already! But I'd love to see maybe some potions related tags :) I think those would be lovely!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Krystal/autumn_mist: Well, mine is quite simple! I would totally leave my husband for Lucius Malfoy. I love the Malfoy family and I totally lose my keys all of the time and occasionally need to summon things. So I figured I would combine my favorite spell, Accio, with my favorite family, Malfoy.
(or to be completely cracky... I hope that if I Accio Malfoy enough, Lucius will come zooming into my bedroom)!

Mary/crusading_soul: The shop owner likely enjoys knitting and wanted to spice that up with a HP-verse term. :)
Krystal/autumn_mist: They like to knit and would appreciate a knitted cauldron to hang on their fridge to keep important recipes or phone numbers? I have no idea!

Krystal/autumn_mist: Custom orders. Honestly...there is nothing that I can think of that this shopkeeper wouldn't do an awesome job with!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: The story behind my name is really awful. Haha. SO I love to knit. A lot. Like on my commute every day on the subway, or at home, or at work when I'm bored, and I have five big bins of yarn and my sister put an embargo on Michaels for me, cause I can't buy anymore yarn. And it was the name of a shop I had thrown to a friend. They were opening a real life shop of goodies on Etsy, and were trying to think of a name. They wanted something to do with knitting and then also witchy, so I was like what about the Knitted Cauldron? While they liked it, they didn't go with it, and I liked it enough I kept it in the back of my head. So when it came time to open a shop of my own, I really had only one choice. Although I did consider other options (Gobbledygook being one). But I ended on The Knitted Cauldron. It was cutesy, and that's the kind of tags I like to make :) I also like vintage-looking things, so was trying to go for that in my shop name.
1. What do you think is the story behind the shop name?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I think the story behind this shop's name is that it's a resurgent catalog, as taken from the point in Chamber of Secrets, where the Phoenix song lifts Harry's spirits up when you think all is lost.
Krystal/autumn_mist: The Phoenix song is a potent thing. Especially when Dumbledore died and the whole world cried.
2. Which three tags in the shop are your favorite?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: OMG there are so many lovely tags to choose from. First, I love the layout, and love how it looks. Even though I can't take it, I love it with this one:
Absolutely gorgeous.
I really love the snitch cake pop.
Also I LOVE the wand one and love that it's totally customized. Such a great idea!
Krystal/autumn_mist: Her entire House Pride section. I can't pick just one! Each house is represented, the different options are incredible. I especially love how she has the "mascots" as well as the "houses" represented.
Her custom wand option is amazing! I love the fact that I can either create my own wand/meanings, or I can give her the ones I got in my stamping.
The heart shape was one thing, it was so unique and awesome. But the way it was laid out with cookie monster was just awesome!
3. What kind of tags would you love to see from the shopkeeper?
Alexandra/coolceruleanblu: I'd love to see all sorts of tags! Her work is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see more of the other house tags, but maybe some more animal tags, and maybe some ocean tags? Her boat ones she's done for the Vikings and the Pirates are pretty top notch.
Krystal/autumn_mist: Customs again, but honestly, she has a way of finding and creating beautiful tags that everyone loves. I don't think she will have a problem coming up with new things!
What is the story behind your shop's name?
Mary/crusading_soul: The story behind my shop's name is that I wanted to name it after a magical creature. I was rewatching CoS at the time and was like, hey, Fawkes is cool - let's name this something after phoenixes. I added Song of the in there because it sounded nice and only saying Phoenixes just sounded a little too short for me.
