Thank you! I thought it would be fun to try and write about something from the 'other side's' point of view and this is what came out.

It was always worthwhile, Dahlia thought, keeping half an ear on conversations nearby - if only because they might affect you in some way a few months down the line.

Hee! I love this line. It is very...Slytherin.

Dramatic should have been his middle name.

I am almost positive that his middle name is Dramatic. If not, he should go have it officially changed.

Haha! I wonder if he lectured Draco on the importance of not being knocked out by immature mandrakes before Draco left for school? I love the little details here, nodding to canon. Walburga too. lol Wonderful look at the Slytherin Pit! I do wonder what Lucius made of eleven-year-old Narcissa, if he ever remembered to look for her. ;)

:) Thanks! I always enjoy trying to work within canon as much as I can and even though there isn't much about the pre-maurauders era that we do know it was fun tyring to give a glimpse of characters before they matured and turn into the ones we knew in the books.

Ooh, I loved the dialogue in this! Dahlia and Lucius have such fantastic banter, and to have them talking about who we KNOW Lucius eventually ends up with-- I was almost rooting for something between Lucius and Dahlia. :P

*snicker* Heh, their conversation was actually what I started with, when I started thinking about how people would react when arranged marriages and things were considered normal and this piece grew out of that. :)

How fascinating to see this younger version of Lucius. Despite the weird political and dynastic discussion, he seems like a pretty normal teenage boy and he's kinda cute actually. I'd also love to read more about your OC; she's got all the pure-blood prejudices, obviously, but she's also a fairly rounded, interesting character with a lot of potential. Too bad Lucius didn't end up with her; she would've kept him on his toes, that's for sure! :)

Thank you! :D I really tried to write something that got across that people are generally people wherever they are even with rather outdated and uncomfortable opinions and customs. I have to admit a fondness for Dahlia myself as she's an old character of mine before we met the real Yaxley in the books. I have actually written more with her and Lucius, in the past and currently, and am sort of working on a kind of sequel to this as well. I can certainly put a link up to the pieces after the reveals if you like.

Never mind the Slug Club, the best place to watch politics play out in Hogwarts was in the Slytherin common room.
I can very much see that being the truth. Great first sentence! Really draws me in.

Purebloods were like that, always playing the long game, and generally started young.
Ahaha. Good point.

She would have been more concerned but this was how he usually made himself known. Dramatic should have been his middle name.
*Cackles.* You're good. I love your grasp on Slytherin House.

...but the plebs were ever hopeful.
Plebs. *Grins.* Well done.

Nobody wanted a proposal by post after all.
I think I would be flattered, provided it was well written. And perhaps had an illustration. But then, I'm not a Slytherin. :B

She couldn't recall exactly how long after the Founding the Greengrasses had first appeared but she was sure it hadnt been more than a century or so.
I love the use of the Founding and a family's appearance in relation to that as a time-scale for Pureblood importance/power/what-have-you.

Light blonde like ( ... )

:) Thank you! I tried really hard to try and keep it lighthearted even considering some of the topics they talked/thought about. It was an interesting time to try and show the ambition that those in the Slytherin house should show without making it cliche or overbearing especially since the characters are only 15 at the time. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. :)
