Karaoke!

Oct 07, 2006 18:10

Ryuuji grinned easily at the crowd that had amassed, tossing his ponytail out of habit, and stepped a little closer to the mike, "Good evening, everyone! Welcome to Hogwarts' third karaoke night, hosted by myself, Sara the Ravenclaw Prefect, and Oz the Gryffindor Prefect. When you come up here, intro yourself, please? Kisame approached Ryuuji quietly.

"Ryuuji-san, are you certain it's neccessary for me to do this?"

The ninja cocked his head and raised a thin eyebrow.

"Totally." Ryuuji nodded, ponytail swaying a little as he did so, and gave Kisame an easy grin, "You're a Prefect! You have to set a good example and karaoke night is great for making the Houses mingle. So if they see both Slytherin Prefects singing then more people will be likely to sing, and that means more interhouse harmoney."

Pause, "Pun not intended, I swear." With a laugh, he canted his head at the stage and encouraged the ninja, "C'mon. I bet you'll do awesome!"

"That's true," Kisame mused. "And it might be a bit rude to refuse."

He grinned suddenly. "Luckily, I prepared for this eventuality. I believe I have a suitable song. I may not be very familiar with the genre of music, but I believe the lyrics are perfect."

With that, Kisame approached the microphone.

"Hello, everyone. Hoshigaki Kisame, Slytherin prefect at your service."

With his free hand, he tapped a few quick buttons, causing the words LL Cool J - Deepest Bluest lyrics to appear on the screen.

Kisame launched into the song energetically, black eyes gleaming.

When he was finished, he bowed, smiling, before descending off the stage.

"All right now, who's up next?"

Oz looked around for a moment before noticing Sadako floating her way to the mike. He pointed to her and said, "Her, I guess."

Oz. Mingling.

As she drifted up to the stage, Sadako left a damp trail in her wake, and the microphone screamed with feedback as she approached. "I can't help but notice that not all the houses were involved in the arrangement of this event," she snapped, before beginning her song.

Waiting until she was done with the song and off the stage, Ryuuji approached her, hands in his pockets and stance casual, "Hey Sadako-san! Nice song. Though with regards to the Houses being involved, this was just something that I normally throw on my own -- like the other two -- but asked Oz and Sara to help out with this time. Not an official Prefect thing, in other words, else all the Prefects would have been consulted, from all the Houses."

Since, after all, there was only one Gryffindor, one Ravenclaw and one Slytherin Prefect named on the posters. Stepping aside to let her pass, he added lightly, "All Houses are welcome to sing. Want to try getting a quartet together with a member from all the Houses? If you bring a Gryffindor, I'll find a Ravenclaw."

A skateboard rolls onstage, and hydraulic arms lift an attached TV set to microphone level.

"Did. Did. Did. Did someone say you need a Ravenclaw to sing? Here's a little ditty that's very near and dear to my heart. Or would. would. would. would be if I had a heart..."

Slightly taken back by the oddness of the man's speech patterns, Ryuuji neverthless applauded, curious about what House the man was from, or even what his name was. He flashed the man a grin, intent on accosting him once he stepped off the stage.

"Hel-hel-hello there! Have we met? M-M-Max Headroom, Ravenclaw's own digitized regeneration program. Come come come here often, young man?"

Ryuuji smiled easily and extended an arm, doing his best not to stare at the other's head and just take it within his stride as yet another oddity of Hogwarts and the variety of people that attended it, "I don't think so. I'm Ryuuji Otogi, Slytherin Prefect. And I come to the Great Hall every so often, but I don't think that we've met before. Are you new here?"

Carrie made her awkward way to the stage and typed in a title.

"I'd like to sing somethin' if that's okay? Don't know if they still play this one. Wasn't that old 'fore I came here."

Carly Simon, Haven't Got Time For the Pain

"Also, if the Sortin' Hat's here tonight? This might be a fine time f'r us t'sing that duet I promised you if you'd like."

Anya went over to Carrie as she left the stage. "Hi Carrie! I'm Anya, we met at your Sorting. How have you been? You have a very nice singing voice."

"Hi Anya. I've been good, thanks. I love singin' - such a simple thing, y'know? You can do it anywhere an' it's always a pleasure." She smiled.

"You're one of the Dead Girls Club heads, right? Is there gonna be another meetin'? I think we've had a few new people come through since the first one."

Anya smiled back. "Yes, I helped organize the Dead Girls Club. I haven't seen Emily in a while, but we were planning to have more meetings. We might even invite dead boys sometime. Have there been more dead girls? I haven't been to a Sorting in a while."

Not looking at the people around him, Nny stalked onstage. He closed his eyes tightly as he sang.

He hurried back offstage, scowling.

Christine looked at him in worry, but the scowling, thin young man obviously did not want to be disturbed. All the same, he had sung a very depressing song (even death arias weren't usually that bleak), and that made her rather uneasy for his well-being.

She ventured a very timid, "Areyouallright, sir?" which she wasn't sure he heard.

The barely-audible question made Nny whirl around, eyes wide and wary. The wariness turned to full-out suspicion when he saw the pretty, frilly-looking girl asking it.

"Are you making fun of me?"

Christine shook her head, blue eyes slightly wide. "N-no, not at all. I wouldn't dream of doing that to anyone. Your song was just... slightly... well, death arias aren't usually as... grim... as your song, and the only time I know where people sing things like that when it isn't part of the plot is when something rather bad happens. I... I thought it might be...." She trailed off. Oh dear, this wasn't going well. "I'm not making fun of you. I really do want to make sure you're all right."

She looked at him anxiously, to see how he reacted.

((ooc; no worries. This is Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, right? He is rather snarly in canon, and Christine's just got some IC-perverse fascination with sociopaths.))
