Ah! An opportunity for the mun to stop neglecting her poor pup to chat with the sublimely lovely Lady Malfoy. Robin could hardly resist such a chance, now could he? Making his way to Narcissa's office, he knocked politely on the door frame before entering the room.

"My Lady Malfoy," he smiled, inclining his head slightly. "I do hope I'm not disturbing you."

Narcissa looked up, a slight smile on her face. "Not at all, Mr Goodfellow, do come in and take a seat," she said, gesturing to the chair as she closed the book in front of her and pushed it to the side.

Domino had been keeping herself to herself lately. Mulling over recent events and working on her sixpack, it really took it out of a girl. But this was a magic school, and she'd been neglecting magic. Something in the back of her mind was eating at her, telling her to 'hurry up and learn to swing those fucking 'chucks without even lifting a finger' except to lift her wand of course. Seeing the sign, she decided this was the perfect opportunity and made her way to Narcissa's office. She didn't knock the door, it was open and she wasn't feeling very polite today anyway. She just leaned on the doorway and coughed, expecting to be noticed.

At the sound of the cough, Narcissa looked up at the woman in the door. "If you are here for the office hours for Charms, do come in and take a seat," she said, gesturing to the free chair.

Domino sauntered in and took a seat. 'So sweet cheeks, let's get straight to the point. Tell me how the fuck I can swing these things without actually moving,' she said with a friendly smile on her face and her numchucks in her hand.

For the briefest moment, Narcissa simply stared and attempted to talk herself out of immediately pulling her wand at being addressed in so... Muggle a fashion. Only years of skill at outward calm when inwardly she was far different kept her from losing her composure or reacting with more disbelief.

"What exactly do those do?" she asked, gesturing toward the item she had never seen before. "In order to determine the best spell for what you are asking, Miss...?" She let the title hang, clearly looking for a name.

Having told Lily he would consult Professor Malfoy regarding the possibility that the fateful evil clown chocolates carried a Charms-related effect, Stephen thought he would stop by the professor's office. Office hours were sometimes slow; if there were many students about, he could always visit later, or send an owl to make an appointment. When he arrived, he found the door open and no sound of conversation coming from within. He rapped the doorframe anyhow, to announce his presence.

Laying one finger on the parchment she had been looking over to mark her spot as she reached for her quill, Narcissa looked up and gestured the man in the doorway in with a wave of her free hand. "Do come in, take a seat," she said and then picked up the quill and placed a small mark next to a line of text in her own hand while she waited for him to sit. Not someone she recognized by sight, but would recognize by name once he gave it.

As it happened, Stephen had known Narcissa Malfoy before her popcorning, not very closely or well. He had been present at her Sorting, and at some of the melodramatic Sortings involving her husband's circle of friends. He had also seen her after she emerged from the popcorn room, though again never closely. This would likely be the most extensive conversation he had ever had with the lady. He had a high opinion of her abilities after speaking with their mutual student Dib, and he did not generally judge people by their spouse's friends (otherwise, as Diana Villiers's spouse, he himself should have come in for some hard scrutiny ( ... )

Ah, so this was Stephen Maturin, the man Narcissa was nearly positive she had corresponded with on the last secrets board and then subsequently sent an anonymous thank you to for what aide he had been. Still a guess in part, of course, but she had watched the progression of the rest of the secrets board to be nearly certain he was one of them and also which he was. That he was clearly Muggleborn was not lost on her, but she was aware that he had filled Severus' former position quite well and it was something to grudgingly respect in addition to what occurred on the secrets board. So, while a year ago she might not have willingly taken the effort to speak to a Muggleborn, she did have a reason to do this. If she wished to continue at her job, which she found she did even more as time passed, it would require not only being polite, but finding aspects of her colleagues to respect in order to work with them when necessary ( ... )

After her visit to the Sorting Room, Osaka flaps over to find a professor to help her with her problem. Two problems, now. She knocks on the door and flaps on inside. "Malfoy-sensei? I have two things I need to ask you."

Narcissa looked up from her book and her eyes widened just a fraction at the levitating - or, flying? - girl before her expression evened out.

"I am happy to answer any questions, come and take a seat?" Rather than a statement, the last was a question, as she was not at all certain the girl could or would sit.

Osaka flapped over to a seat and lowered herself down into it. "Thank you, Malfoy-sensei. First of all, I was wondering." Her eyes went huge as she thought of this again. "How can you tell if a hat is a boy or a girl? Because I don't think that they have any parts like people have, since if they did I don't think anyone would want to wear them if they're right there on your head like that."

Despite herself, Narcissa was amused, as what child first entering Hogwarts did not wonder about the gender of the Hat? However, she had never yet been asked this question, especially with mention of 'parts.'

"The Hat is neither, to the best of my knowledge, simply a hat," she said, then paused, considering. "It did once belong to Godric Gryffindor, so I suppose you might say the hat is a 'boy' as it was a wizarding hat for a man rather than a woman."
