((I'm going to bed right after replying to this. I shall have to continue at a saner hour. =) ))
Emily entered the library and immidiately her mouth fell open in surprise. She had never seen anything like this before. She had always thought that Elder Gutknecht's collection of books were very impressive, but these... They also seemed to be in an impeccable order, something that dear Elder Gutknecht rarely bothered with.
To her immense relief she spotted Anya, looking similarly confused, almost right away. Emily went up to her and smiled as a way of greeting. "Hello Anya! Are you as surprised at the vastness of this place as I am?"
Anya laughed softly as she turned to greet Emily. "Yes, it's much bigger than I was expecting. I don't know what I was thinking. Magic and old books always go together. It's traditional." Anya looked around again, trying in vain to remember how the library at Sunnydale High School was set up. She had avoided class work as much as possible during her time as an involuntary high school student. "I wonder if the librarian is around?"
"Oh, hello." Anya was a bit startled when the house-elf suddenly appeared, but glad to see someone that might be able to help. "Well, this is our first visit to the library, so I was hoping the Librarian could tell us how the library is organized, and maybe point us toward the section with books on Transfiguration. We're looking for something basic, since we're both beginners with this type of magic."
Anya mentally noted that while the Librarian didn't physically resemble Giles, he certainly had the same look of being totally at home while surrounded by books. She smiled and ventured a greeting. "Hello?"
Emily stepped into the office and stood beside Anya. Her eyes fell on the Librarian, and then they widened just a little bit. Oh. She had expected someone... older. Her skeleton hand, which frequently moved on its own accord, automatically began to smooth out possible wrinkles in her dress.
She also dared a smile and a slight curtsie. "Hello, sir."
"Hello, how can I help you girls?" Blair beamed at them. He'd always enjoyed helping students who really wanted to learn. And As a Librarian they were coming to him directly for help, not to try and charm their way out of a paper or into a higher grade.
"We'd like to borrow some books on Transfiguration," Anya began. "You see, we have a project we're working on. We're starting a club for all the female students that have come to Hogwarts after dying. We have permission to make one of the unused classrooms into our meeting place, and we thought we could use Transfiguration spells to redecorate. However, we're both fairly new, and not at all familiar with the type of magic taught here."
Anya rushed on, gesturing animatedly. "I do have some experience with other forms of magic, but I've only been able to attend one class since I arrived, Introduction to Charms. I haven't heard of any other classes being scheduled in the future, so I thought maybe we could take a look at some of the Transfiguration textbooks and see what we could learn by ourselves."
