Down in the owlery, Hermione was back from her vacation from someplace where they apparently don't have calendars. She can be seen frantically writing letters to all the professors. *hug* Ginny, you're here too? Last time I was here, there was barely anyone from before and now we're three months into classes. Where has the time gone, right?

*big hug* Yep, I've been here for a month or so. Maybe more. It's been so crazy I can hardly remember. And Harry's here and Charlie and Fred and George and Oliver Wood just got sorted!

I'm okay, I suppose, except for being in Slytherin, but at least Harry's in there with me. I've been to a few classes, and they're all right.

So where've you been? Have you gotten back to your dorm at all? You're in Ravenclaw, right?

I stopped by to drop Crookshanks off and there was a bar in the common room. How is anyone supposed to get any studying done in there?

Harry's here, too? And you're both in Slytherin, how did that happen? You both didn't ask to be put in there, did you?

Merlin was in the owlery attending to his owl, just back from delivering a note. *He looks over at the girl and watches her quill move quickly over the parchment* *walks over to the small group of people surrounding her and says* "Hello Ms. ... " *questioning look*

I used to be in Gryffindor with Ron and Harry, but I'm in Ravenclaw this time. It seems we're all winding up in different houses this time around. How has the Ravenclaw house been since I left?

Charlie'd seen the dorm assignments for the Ravenclaw girls (don't ask how or why...), and so it'd been no surprise that Hermione - sweet, bookish Hermione - was a current student of Hogwarts.
That said, he'd never actually seen her. At first, he'd simply assumed that she was avoiding him (understandably so, too), but had slowly realized that it probably wasn't so. Other students had missed her as well.

So as he climbs the stairs to the owlry, the LAST thing he expects to see is the familiar line of her calf peeking between modest robes and cute little socks with dragons on them. Socks that he'd sent her for Christmas.
"Her... Hermione? Herminone!"

Charlie is almost too stunned to speak.

"Gods, girl! I've been missing you like ruttin' hell! How d'you think I've been doin'?"
He storms up the remaining steps, forgetting the tight wad of letters he'd come to send out. Envelopes and scraps of paper scatter everywhere, and immediately a host of owls descends upon them, gathing them up with talons and beaks and carrying them up to the high reaches of the tower, supposedly for nesting.
Grinning like and idiot, Charlie sweeps Hermione into a hug, then holds her out at arms length, giving her another once-over.
"Where've you been, anyhow? An' why haven't you returned my owls?"

Already feeling a bit guilty from school work and Harry and Ginny's situation, Hermione felt a bit worse for making Charlie worry like that. The Weasleys were almost like family. "Sorry about that, Charlie. I didn't know you were trying so hard to contact me. I've missed out on a lot, haven't I? Last time I was here, it did seem a bit off. But I didn't think it'd get this crazy here."
