Dean,

I will speak to Lorne and then assist in searching for your brother. Try to remain calm. There are many places he could have gone, not all of them obvious.

Have you asked the house-elves whether they have seen him?

I know that kid, if he's here, I'll find him.

Yeah, they saw him leave Sookie's room, not much else. Damn it Cas, just find out what the demon told him. I'm going to find out what he's been talking to Crowley about.

The piano was out of tune. Not by much. But just enough that he noticed. Middle C was just a tad flat, and every time he played an F chord, the slightly discordant squeak made his eye twitch. Lorne didn’t mind though. A piano that was slightly off key meant that it was well used.

He was playing a melancholy version of “Hallelujah”, his fingers gliding over the keys as he sang. It had taken a profound amount of cajoling to get one of the house elves to magic the piano into his room, but it was worth it as far as he was concerned. The abject disaster that had been the karaoke night he had planned put him off performing for awhile. Lorne’s head turned slightly towards the door. He could sense the angel’s aura half a mile away, all power and worry.

As long as he didn’t want to sing.

"Come on in," he called.

Castiel had stopped in the hallway, listening to the music with his head cocked slightly to one side. Hallelujah. The word was laden with ages of meaning, probably more than Lorne could understand, and both the word itself and the incongruously mournful way in which it was used resonated with the angel on some deep level.

He would have liked to hear the entire song, but his errand was urgent, and he opened the door and stepped inside as soon as Lorne gave permission.

"My apologies for the intrusion," he said. "But Sam Winchester has gone missing, and his brother is concerned for his safety. He asked me to find out whether anything you said to Sam could be a factor." That was, of course, putting it politely.

Hell.

Bobby read the note and didn't bother scribbling out a reply. He knew Dean was on the move and an owl wouldn't be able to catch up to what he imagined was already a badly rattled Winchester.

If Castiel was talking to Lorne and Dean was after Crowley, he'd take the grounds. He started near the castle and began working his way out, searching for any sign of Sam's passing. The young man was a damn good hunter, which meant that any trail he left behind was going to be pretty spare.

Dean took off like a bat out of hell after he left Crowley, the hunter hit the ground running and was impatient through the wait on the correct set of stairs. He skidded to a stop in the popcorn room and saw not a single sign of Sammy's name, he was relieved and more worried all at the same time.

But, this meant Sam was still here. And there was one place that map may have not been able to see a thing. The forest, he knew he should probably call for back up, but the hunter was afraid if he wasted any time, he'd lose Sam for good this time.

He wasted no time bursting out on to the grounds and when he had nearly reached the edge of the forest he saw a familiar figure that eased some of the tense muscles in him.

"Bobby" Dean called as he jogged to catch up with the hunter, he glanced towards the forest "he's gotta be in there, only place I ain't checked."

Bobby was holding a small white owl on his arm, reading the note it had brought him. He looked up at Dean, his expression one of relief. With a nod, he sent Death's owl on its way, holding up a folded piece of paper.

"She said he's not on his way to the Pit. Which means he's around here. I've seen a few traces. He was here, at least a day ago."

Bobby jerked his head towards the Forest. "Then let's get in there after him. You talk to Cas?"

When Bobby said those words Dean's heart stopped, it was an instant wash of relief, that was immediately covered by one of anger, because if he wasn't headed to the pit, Bobby had found traces of him, unless some one was tricking them, that meant Sam had taken off on his own, with out a word.

"Let's go" Dean pulled out his gun and flash light "Then he's goin' deeper in, gonna be harder to find him out here like this if he goes to deep." And Dean had one thought as he stepped in to the forest, eyes glancing around he caught sight of what looked like the remains of campfire.

"That son of a bitch, what the hell is he doin' out here."
