Those Quiet Days (Open RP; Forest Edge)

Sephiroth had become quite attached to the lake, being that the creature that lived within reminded him so much of Jenova and at times the walls of the castle reminded him of the Shinra mansion all too well. On his bad days, they weren't welcome memories. On his good days, he preferred to do other things. Such is what found him under a tree reading ( Read more... )

March came in like a lamb, Zack had heard it once said, and as today was particularly lamb-like, he'd taken a stroll along the grounds. It was nice, to be out when the snow didn't govern the land like a miser, or the wind bite as it had a month ago ( ... )

Sephiroth had never been one for small talk. Usually Zack filled the silences with whatever came into his head at the time (or so Sephiroth thought; he was never sure how he managed to simply go on and on without having somehow prepared a list of topics before hand) and Sephiroth had spent a great deal of the last few years within the Lifestream or haunting Maleficent's castle.

Running the cloth up the long blade as far as his hand could reach and then brining it back along the blade, Sephiroth allowed himself a brief glace in Zack's direction. Returning to Masamune, he discovered he did have something he could ask.

"Settled?" Simple, something that wasn't in that odd kind of murky area when it came to whatever relationship the two of them had.

Zack shrugged, putting his head to one side. "More or less. Still trying to get used to the whole 'dead but not really' thing. I keep waking up expecting to get orders for a mission, but..." He spread his hands in a 'what the hell' gesture. There would be no more orders from SHINRA now.

He was quiet a moment, and then, "Sometimes I wonder if I'm the same person now as before I died." The thought wasn't new, but actually saying so, to Sephiroth of all people, had never crossed his mind, until now. He half expected Sephiroth to laugh at him.

"Your PHS won't work here. I threw mine in the lake."

Sephiroth knew all about being deal and coming back something else. Something better. More. Perhaps Zack had been 'at peace' perhaps not. Sephiroth would never be, not until he fulfilled Mothers desires, and here it was impossible. He could only bide his time.

He gave Zack another brief glance. "You went through a lot before your death. I could feel you through the mako in the tanks." He hadn't been whole then, but he'd been regenerating in the Northern Crater, his will in the Lifestream reaching down to skip along the J cells within Hojo's toys and then mako itself.
