Toki was taking the Shoggies to the Great Hall for lunch when he noticed Yoda and his table full of felt and other fun things. "Wow-wee!" he exclaimed, "It's crafts time!" He smiled hugely as he took the Shoggies over to the table, and lined them up on the bench before sitting down across from Yoda and admiring his stuffed bantha. "That's so cool! How'd you make that?" he asked the little green man-like thing- there were enough weird things at Hogwarts that Yoda wasn't especially weird. In fact, Toki thought that he was a green house-elf. "Can we makes crafts with you too? I love makings crafts!"
The Shoggies also thought that the stuffed bantha was pretty awesome, evidenced by their many-eyed stares at it, and announcement of "sooo cool!".
"Love for you to make crafts, I would," Yoda said, delighted. "All of you." He nodded at the Shoggies, pleased by their enthusiasm. "With felt and fur, I worked. And thread. Hard work sewing can be, but focus the mind it can. And very cute, my bantha is. Here." He pushed a large stack of equipment over at Toki and the Shoggies. "See what you would make, I would."
Toki beamed happily at Yoda, and looked over the various materials. A piece of fake fur caught his eye, that was about the exact right colour for one of the yard wolves back home. "I'm going to makes the yard wolf!" he announced, and pondered the scrap of material, contemplating how to get the right shape for a yard wolf out of it. He decided that sticking the fake fur to a felt yard wolf would probably be easiest
( ... )
"Good!" Yoda wondered briefly how exactly a yard wolf differed from other kinds. Perhaps they were smaller, like gophers.
"A bantha this is," he said, holding it out to the Shoggies for inspection. "More like a cow than a bear it is. Unless give milk, bears do, on this planet." He laughed. Bears tended to be rather grumpy on all worlds, and the only people he knew who would even try to milk one were on the foolishly brash side.
"Yoda am I." He inclined his head to them all. "A house-elf, I am not. A Jedi Master I am, though retired some may call me." He chuckled again. "Impossible it is for a Jedi to retire, yes. But a pleasant diversion, Hogwarts is."
"Oh my goodness, that thing is adorable." Fields didn't know a bantha from a womp rat, but she knew cute when she saw it. Yoda's stuffed bantha looked like a rejected Muppet that would sing bass in a band and be named Fred.
"Do you think there's enough here to make another one?" She picked at the fake fur. Fred over there needed a buddy with a mohawk, and she was just to girl to make that.
Yoda beamed up at her. "Thank you, I do!" It really was adorable, in the lopsided, lumpy way that some homemade things are. It was clear that neither sewing nor toymaking were Yoda's particular forte.
"Plenty of felt and fur there should be! If not, more we can get. Very helpful and efficient, the house-elves are."
