Closed RP: An Angel, A Pixie, and a Little Dog, Too.

Brice took Twoey on a walk around the lake most every day, because though she was a pretty small dog, she never quite seemed to run out of energy. Now lately she had taken to teaching herself how to swim. It definitely interrupted the walk, but since Brice was usually putty in Twoey's paws, he allowed her to play and splash as much as she wanted ( Read more... )

Brice hadn't expected a voice, especially not one apparently coming from above, so he was startled enough for a twitch before glancing up. Oh, look at that. A girl with wings. Practically an every day occurrence, really. It took him all but half a second to deduce that she was not an immediate threat, though the hair was kind of an eyesore. But who was he to judge? Once upon a time, he'd been known to sport a bleached blond mullet, and not even the excuse of being evil at the time could really atone for that ( ... )

Megan crouched down and let the dog sniff her before scratching at Twoey's ears, grinning from ear to ear. "Awww, what a sweetie! Yes you are," she crooned, engaging in that baby talk that sometimes comes from being in contact with adorable animals. "She's adorable. Her name's Twoey? Weird. Not bad, though, it kind of fits her. Twoey." She straightened up and rubbed her hands on her jeans. "I'm Megan."

Brice looked pleased. Yes, his dog was adorable, thank you. She was irresistibly cute and such a good girl, yesshewas... But he was still a cool guy. Yes, absolutely. Badass.

"She's actually named Bob Two," he said conversationally. "I had another dog named Bob once. I didn't know Twoey was a girl when I got her." He nodded at her. "I'm Brice. Nice to meet you, Megan."

Twoey, who had greatly enjoyed being scratched, now took off again. Ducks! There were ducks to chase by the lake! She took off like a race dog and ran straight back into the water, yipping excitedly. Brice, much like the parent of a young and energetic child, never took his eyes off her.

"So." Brice wasn't exactly known for his gift of gab. "Where are you from?" Nice one.

Okay. This could have been a lot worse. She only barely edged back. She'd fought demons. She'd fought Purifiers, possessed Sentinels, Skrulls, and Belasco. He didn't feel like any of them. "Well... no, not really. I mean, you don't feel evil, you know? I have this... compass... in me now that seems to point out where dark things are, right in the hollow part of me. And I'm not getting anything off of you. Besides," she said, trying out a smile, "You haven't tried to kill me yet. That puts you way ahead of a lot of people who have never been to hell and pretty much all of the demons I've ever met. And one of my teachers."

He didn't look directly at Megan. He kept his eyes on the blissful Twoey, who was sweet and innocent and had never hurt anything in her rather short life. She was nice to look at ( ... )

...and now she was freaked out. She may have killed someone once, but Belasco was... Belasco. Not human, and he had been trying to kill her friends. And while she knew that some of her friends and teachers had killed people--Laura and Wolverine, definitely, and probably Miss Frost--they had never talked about it with her. Laura might have, but Megan had always been too scared of her roommate to ask.

"No, I'm fine," she said, her voice definitely higher-pitched than normal. "Really. If it makes you feel better to talk, you probably should. I don't think I'll have any good advice, but I can be a good listener! I know I don't seem like I would be, but I am, I swear." She chewed on her lower lip, inwardly bracing herself, and shoved her hands in her jeans pockets, forcing herself to keep looking at him and not look at the grass or the lake.

Yeah. He was pretty good at freaking people out. Yay for him. Brice crouched down for his dog, who ran up to him for cuddles. She was scooped up into his arms and got her ears rubbed for her trouble. He stood up again, still leaning by that tree. Angels liked being near trees. They gave off a very soothing, gentle vibe.

"I don't even know if talking really makes it better," he sighed. "And believe me, I've talked about it. I mean, a lot. All I really do is repeat the problem, and it doesn't make it go away, it'll just freak you out." Twoey licked him on the nose, and he smiled absentmindedly. She was a sweet dog. "I would appreciate it if you didn't tell my girlfriend, though... I mean, she knows a lot about me as a bad guy, but she doesn't know everything. I'd like to keep it that way." It wasn't lying to her, technically. So, not so bad? Right? Just being a good boyfriend, sheltering her from things he knew would upset her?

...Right?
