Brice took Twoey on a walk around the lake most every day, because though she was a pretty small dog, she never quite seemed to run out of energy. Now lately she had taken to teaching herself how to swim. It definitely interrupted the walk, but since Brice was usually putty in Twoey's paws, he allowed her to play and splash as much as she wanted

"No, I'm fine," she said, her voice definitely higher-pitched than normal. "Really. If it makes you feel better to talk, you probably should. I don't think I'll have any good advice, but I can be a good listener! I know I don't seem like I would be, but I am, I swear." She chewed on her lower lip, inwardly bracing herself, and shoved her hands in her jeans pockets, forcing herself to keep looking at him and not look at the grass or the lake.

"I don't even know if talking really makes it better," he sighed. "And believe me, I've talked about it. I mean, a lot. All I really do is repeat the problem, and it doesn't make it go away, it'll just freak you out." Twoey licked him on the nose, and he smiled absentmindedly. She was a sweet dog. "I would appreciate it if you didn't tell my girlfriend, though... I mean, she knows a lot about me as a bad guy, but she doesn't know everything. I'd like to keep it that way." "And you really don't have to worry about freaking me out." She gave a little grin and shrugged at Brice. "It's weird to hear, yeah, but I've seen and been through a lot of weird, bad stuff lately. If I can survive having my soul ripped out, I can survive hearing someone talk. So, you know... if you need someone who wasn't involved in it to just listen, I'm here."

He smiled, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "It's what I do." Correction, it's what you do now. "It's not easy going to Limbo, though. I'm not sure it can be done from here. We have special facilities for that kind of thing. You don't have to go back there again, if you don't want it," he said gently. "A piece of you is already there, and it will call out for help. What does Witchfire want with your soul anyway?"

Megan didn't notice the glow, being a little absorbed in her misery, but she definitely noticed the effects. She untensed, though she still hugged her knees, and rubbed at the bridge of her nose. "Thanks. Yeah, I know it is, but... that means I'm safe here and all my friends are still in trouble back home. Which doesn't really have anything to do with my soul, really. But thanks." She smiled up at him in a wavering, "I'm putting on my best brave face" sort of way, and fluttered back up to a standing position.
