((OOC: Jing is taken from the anime King of Bandit Jing mostly because the mun doesn't have the manga yet, again anymore. Age wise, he's referred to many times as a 'kid' and 'boy.' The only thing for sure is he's under 20 and more than 10 [there's a flash back to when he was 10 and he doesn't argue when he's told he shouldn't be doing something ( Read more... )

"Now how did you come to have the solar system in your possession?" Bond asked. The spy was witholding judgment on the application. Some of the answers were very similar to his own. Maybe they were influenced by the attitude of knowing that one was the best at what one did.

Jing shrugs. "About the way anyone would, I suppose." This one is clever. Jing wonders if he has girls falling over him, too.

A good answer. He smirked. "Naturally. My mistake."

Bond's face went back to a carefully crafted mask of indifference. "Would it be a problem to examine the bribe before voting?"

Jing shrugs. "The moon and Mercury have been claimed. Do you have a favorite?" he asks.

That playfulness, that confidence...there had been shadows of that in her father aboveground. Maybe he had been like that when he was this boy's age. Maybe her brother aboveground would be like that when he was older, if he lived.

Ofelia tiptoed closer to get a better look at the boy, over her fairy's protests. The little thing seemed suspicious of the boy, chittering angrily at him.

"Ssh," Ofelia told it, but approached the boy warily. "Hola."

Up close, he wasn't much older than some of the resistance fighters Mercedes knew.

Jing looks at the girl and smiles. "Hello," he replies. Curious, he holds out his hand, empty, offering it to her. "How are you?" he asks with a smile that borders on a friendly grin.

She looked at the hand, then gingerly took it while her fairy hissed and bared its sharp little teeth at the boy.

"I am alright," she said, giving a shy smile that seemed almost scared of itself. "Please do not mind the fairy. She is very protective."

Jing smiles. "Reminds me of a friend of mine, loud and sometimes obnoxious. It's a little strange being here without him."

Matthew grinned. "Man after my own heart," he said, though he obviously had a couple of years on Jing. "Though I'm not usually quite that ambitious. Usually what I steal is information."

"Information is part of what I steal, I suppose. I have to find out where things are, after all," Jing replies. "Though, people do tend to protect information more than things, I've noticed. Or, maybe just ideas? What do you think?"

Matthew shrugged. "I don't know... I guess it depends on the situation as much as anything else - in a war, information about an army's movements can be worth a lot more than a chest full of gold."

"Gold is less valuable than things that people place stock in: Their suffering, their pride, their power." Jing shrugs. "Even these can be stolen," he says. "But, I've never worked where there was a war, so, you may be right," he says with a smile.

"Stealing is wrong," Hermione said severely. "And you're too young to know anything about... about sexual harassment." She could barely choke out the words herself.

"Why is it wrong?" Jing asks, just to see what the girl will say more than anything. "If someone is holding onto something that makes them miserable, isn't it better if it's stolen from them?"

"It's not better," Hermione said hotly. "Because then you're not giving them a choice in the matter. And your definition of 'better' may not be the same as another person's."

Jing pulls the mask over his face. "If there was a person who said that time was absolute law so that anyone who was late, even by a second, was subject to a death penalty, wouldn't it be better to steal time from him?" he asked.

(( Oh lord, so sorry this took awhile, hon. Jing can RP with the Hat in this thread if you want, but also I'm gonna go ahead and sort him))

"Pfft, I want sparklies."

((Understand...it's that time of year))

"Sparklies?" Jing replied. After a moment's thought, mentally sorting through his treasures, he pulled out a golden coin that appeared to be a beatle.
