Application for Amaranth: Tales of Mu

Oct 24, 2008 20:13

The tall, well-built, and very, very naked blonde in the sorting room could have come out of any number of porn fantasies. She radiated an aura of sensuality and allure, and at the moment her only piece of clothing was a pair of antique, ornate-looking spectacles ( Read more... )

Well, making people physically ill was not something that had ever happened to Amaranth yet. Being treated like a non-person, some receptacle for the desires of other people without desires of her own, that was one thing, and she could ignore that, because at least the other person was getting what they wanted out of the experience.

But the fact that she had caused this poor boy actual, real distress upset her.

Se wrung her hands and stared at A for a moment, eyes wide and stricken. "I'm sorry that I upset you," she managed to get out, resisting the urge to start pacing.

A had already fled, fearing what might come next.

The arrival of an utterly gorgeous, utterly willing, utterly naked nymph had to throw even Lezard Valeth for a loop. Maybe especially Lezard Valeth. When had he ever seen anything like this outside of Tyrion's porn collection? He'd certainly never seen it in, you know, real life.

Homunculi didn't count.

For an awkward moment he merely stared at Amaranth.

Hips swaying and jiggly bits jiggling, Amaranth made her way to the gawking Lezard. "Hello, handsome," she purred, reaching out and brushing her fingers down his becloaked chest. "Is that a wand in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

She just touched him. What was going on here? Was he dreaming? He didn't sleep very often! He didn't remember going to sleep!

With an effort Lezard managed a semblance of his usual confident composure.

"Actually," he said, "it really is a wand." And he took it out to show her. "Behold, the Wand of Apocalypse."

It was an impressive artifact. It was also a real and literal magic wand. Not, you know, a part of the male anatomy.

For a moment, Amaranth forgot to be sultry in her enthusiasm. "What does the wand do?" she asked. "Most wands I've ever seen perform specific functions, after which they need to be recharged. Is yours like that?" Then she shook herself a little and batted her lashes and lowered her voice to a confidential whisper. "May I... touch it?" she asked.

Walter Sullivan tends to ignore the sorting room for the reason that he doesn't like people, therefore has no desire to meet anyone. And this application shows a good reason why he should have just stayed away. Her naked body and willingness for sex reminds Walter of the subway whores he saw as he was growing up and Cynthia, which makes him think that she is a bad person, or more of a terrible person than he normally would. Nevermind that she is a nymph, Walter has bad associations in his mind on her now.

He votes squib and goes to leave, not wanting to talk to Amaranth.

There were lots of unhealthily repressed people here, Amaranth was beginning to think. At least that one hadn't looked physically ill. Thank Mother Khaele for small favors.

"A nymph? I don't think I've heard of one of those yet," Yukimura says with a laugh. Her nudity isn't that much of an issue for him. She is attractive, and it was common practice for people to walk around nude in hot springs. "Can you tell me more about that?"

Amaranth liked this one, and returned his friendly smile. "I'm a cereal nymph, actually. I keep a field of... well... amaranth, actually... fertile through the use of my sexual energy. I need to keep a steady stream of sex partners in order for the field not to dry up and to keep it producing grain. Which isn't hard at college, but here... wherever here is... might be an interesting challenge." She was still smiling cheerfully at the last, since she was always up for a challenge.

Yukimura laughed. "That sounds a little like Inari," he said. "Though, I think it was more her kitsune were sensualists than she himself." He shrugged. "A challenge is good for the mind and body."

Amaranth's look was speculative. "And would you present a challenge?" she asked sweetly.

Beowulf's fetishes involved monsters. Amaranth didn't have any tentacles or a tail, so she didn't really fit the bill. He liked a good big-bosomed wench as well as anyone did, so he wouldn't have kicked Amaranth out of the bedfurs for eating crispbread, but you know, she just didn't have that Giant Squid-type oomph.

"WENCH, YOU HAVE LOST YOUR TUNIC!" he informed her helpfully.

"No, I haven't," Amaranth replied with a cheerful smile. "I don't wear clothes." For some inexplicable reason, this statement made her blush.

"IN THE DARK OF WINTER, THE BREATH OF THE FROST GIANTS WILL BITE YOUR TOES!" Beowulf gave the nude wench a most stern admonition, punctuated by the pointing of a forefinger.

Amaranth nodded. "It's so sweet of you to think of me being cold," she told him. "But I don't feel cold the way most people do, so I shouldn't have any problems in winter."
