Recovered from his ice cream headache, Wishbone was sniffing around outside. He saw another person and was going to go say hi, but he sensed nervousness on that person.

Are you okay?

Hm, what? Oh. Talking dog. That didn't disturb Brice at all. He could talk to animals normally, only things were usually different around here.

"I'm fine," he said with a little smile. "Just... thinking about something." He nodded to where his dog was gleefully chasing small birds. "Have you two met?"

No, I haven't! I'm Wishbone! What were you thinking about?

"She's Twoey. She doesn't talk. Well, not out loud, like you." Brice shrugged, and Twoey arfed happily as yet another sparrow effortlessly got away from her. He looked at Wishbone thoughtfully. Well, it was a talking dog. It was easier to open up to animals than humans, he felt.

"My girlfriend," he said eventually. "I was... kind of thinking I'd like to ask her to marry me. Only I'm not sure how." He looked amused for a moment. "I don't suppose you've got any tips?"

Miles had been jogging along, needing to burn off some restless energy. Boredom was something he had managed to stave off fairly well, but here at Hogwarts things were different.

As he made his way around the lake, he spotted a young man sitting alone, looking pensive and nervous and clutching a box. It did not take a huge leap of logic for Miles to assume that the stranger was wrestling with something to do with romance.

Miles was probably not the best person to ask about romance, since his taste in women had been questioned on more than one occasion, (mostly, but not always, by his cousin, Ivan), but never let it be said he wasn't up for doing his good deed for the day.

Miles slowed to a walk as he approached the tree Brice was leaning against. "Hey," he said brightly. "Is that what I think it is?" He indicated the box and then dropped down to lean against another, nearby tree, taking it for granted that his presence would be welcome.

It was welcome. Well, sort of. Brice enjoyed a bit of company from time to time, especially now that he was a bit at loss for what to do. He didn't often open up to people. He was a DIY kind of guy, but when it came to stuff like this, with romance and girls, he was somewhat lacking. Spending a lot of quality time in Hell could do that to you. It did sometimes feel like he'd been raised by wolves, and missed out on something that came naturally for most people.

He looked up at Miles. It took a moment for Brice's blue eyes to lose some of that thoughtfulness - he'd been deep inside his own head - and a few seconds after that for him to really hear the question. He looked down at the box.

"Probably," he said with more calm than he felt. "Engagement ring. Sort of, anyway." He let out a small sigh. "You don't happen to have any experience with proposals, do you? Like, how to make sure they pan out the way you'd planned?" Because seriously, he was clueless here.

Miles really wasn't good at proposals, at least, not by this point in his life, though his engagement would later prove to be far from uneventful. But a little thing like inexperience was hardly going to stop him.

"I thought it might be an engagement ring," he said sagely. "How long have you known the girl? Is she going to expect this, or is this going to be a surprise?"

How long? It was hard to measure time in Heaven. It didn't work like it does on Earth. But Brice knew Mel from before, somehow. They had that cosmic connection that had pulled him out of Hell and back where he should be, because he'd seen her and finally realized that he couldn't continue like this. He didn't know where the connection came from. Their souls were linked.

"Ages," he eventually replied. "Been dating for over a year. We live together, here. And I knew her for months before we got together." He turned over the box and added, "I don't know if she suspects anything. Her best friend helped me pick out the ring, and they tell each other everything. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up blabbing." And would that be good or bad? He wasn't sure. Part of him sort of wanted Mel to already know what was going on, to take the edge off it, and at the same time he wanted to surprise her.

"Mostly a surprise, I think. I just don't really know how to ask." He made a face. "Don't want to mess it up, obviously."

Along came a short man-creature with a wrestling mask for a head and a pair of boxing gloves for hands. He also didn't seem to be wearing a shirt.

This ... was Strong Bad. Neglected by his mun for far too long.

"Hey, you see any big fish in there?" The guy seemed to be looking at the lake, so Strong Bad figured he must see something cool. "Maybe a Deep Sea Fangly Fish that forgot this was a lake? 'Cause I totally remembered this is a lake."

...Oookay. This was new. Not a talking dog. Something he'd never really seen before. Brice blinked, and almost instantly recovered from the small shock.

"Huh? Oh." He shook his head. "No. Can't see any fish. There probably are some, though." Unless they'd been eaten by the Squid. Brice smirked a bit. "Good on you. It's definitely a lake."

He looked out over the aforementioned lake and saw that his dog was sniffing the surface. "Get away from there, fuzzball!" he called out. "You know you'll have to bathe if you jump in!" The dog made a snorting sound and tottered back to her master, and lay down, putting her head on his leg and peering curiously at Strong Bad. Her tail wagged a few times, tiredly. Well, it'd been a long day of sparrow-chasing. Brice started scratching her behind the ears, and hoped to himself that she was too wiped out to notice that Strong Bad's hands were probably quite biteable for a dog.

Rose went out to paint the lake, but the boy looking worried is a better subject. When he moves slightly, Rose's fierce little voice pipes up. 'Please do not move. You will mess it up. Thank you.'

A few seconds pass, sounds of sketching in the air, til she concedes that 'Now, you may move.'

Brice did sit still, but mostly out of surprise that it was demanding of him. But okay. He hadn't planned on moving much anyway.

"Thanks," he said when she gave him permission to move. "So. Why are you drawing me?"

'You look like a tormented soul and there are far too few of them here for my liking,' she replies, innocence on her face. 'What has happened? And can I see your eyes wider, please?'

"Nothing's happened," said Brice a touch defensively. "I'm just thinking about something. And I don't do wide-eyed wonderment, sorry. You'll have to make do with what's there."
