Any Landing You Can Stagger Away From... (Closed RP for Jaime and Susan)

When it rained, it freaking monsooned. Jaime was starting to think it would never end.

After nearly three months back home in El Paso, Jaime had started to wonder if the month he spent at Hogwarts was just a hallucination. He stopped wondering about it over time, pushing it to the back of his mind as everything else took precedence - school, the Reach, the Titans, the Vista Verde disaster. The latest disaster had completely pushed it from his thoughts. Brenda had just found out about her aunt's criminal activities in the worst way possible. And she wasn't taking it well. He'd kept La Dama's secret for months, not just because of their truce, but because he wanted to spare Brenda even more grief. With her dad out of the picture, and her aunt taking really good care of her - he had to give Tia Amparo credit, she'd do anything in her power to keep Brenda safe - things were looking up for Brenda. He didn't want to destroy that again.

So much for that idea.

He should have known better, should have known that keeping his mouth shut led to trouble. He'd kept his trap shut about her dad when she asked him to, and what happened? Asshole put her in the hospital. And now this. She'd agreed to come stay at his house, but she wasn't saying a word to him. Not one. At this rate, he was almost wishing she'd punch him already and be done with it.

No matter what, he still couldn't help hurting the people he cared about.

The awkwardness had reached the point where he found himself flying out over the desert one night, for no other reason than the intense desire to get out, to clear his head. Unfortunately, the solitude only made him dwell on it more. As he glided over the desert, he didn't notice as the temperature began to drop. Nor did he notice that the landscape beneath him was subtly changing from sand and rock to dense forest.

But he did notice as the scarab suddenly screeched in his ear and the world abruptly shifted. The next thing he knew, he was plummeting towards the earth like a rocket, unable to stop it or even re-orient himself as the ground came closer and closer and the scarab continued shrieking, unable to stop his plunge.

This was why anyone looking up at the night sky outside Hogwarts would notice a bright blue star that was drifting through the sky suddenly jerk and shoot down towards the earth like a comet, landing in the edge of the northern woods with a BOOM.

"Ow."

One second, there were three trees, the next, a smoking crater. Miraculously, as the smoke cleared, none of the surrounding forest seemed damaged, and no fires were spreading. About a minute later, an armored hand reached out, and Jaime staggered to his feet unsteadily, smoke rising from the armor. Bright yellow eyes blinked as he took in his surroundings. "¿Que?"

Talk about deja vu.

((He's back! Canon now updated, so he's returning just after BB#19, for the one other player I know who reads Blue Beetle.))

((ETA: I fail at math. Updating post to note that he should have been gone closer to THREE months, not five. Ignore all comments that say five months. YOU SAW NOTHING. *yay comic book time*))
