Pretty Solid Friend Material ((Open RP))

Hogwarts was great, as far as back-from-the-dead scenarios went. The classes were sparse but interesting, the food was good, and people were adequately prepared for the threat of evil-clowns. Hogwarts was so great, in fact, that it had taken Steph nearly two months to realize her social circle was pretty much composed of old(er!) male vigilantes. ( Read more... )

You would think that, after eating chocolate and becoming a child for a day, Jo would be suspicious of random cookies. But Jo was a trusting sort. She was also feeling like she needed company, and hadn't had a chance to owl either Lizzy or Laurie, so cookies and punch sounded like a great idea.

She approached the crowd of people, smiled brightly at Steph, and took a cookie. "Ooh, those look wonderful!"

"Thank you! I didn't make them, so they're all right to eat." Steph's cooking skills didn't extend beyond the realm of grilled cheese sandwiches. "No magical side effects."

Jo smiled. "You do have to be careful about the food you eat here sometimes," she observed. "I'm afraid I'm always forgetting that. Luckily, I've only ever had one mishap." She offered her hand. "I'm Miss Jo March."

"That's what I hear! Good to know. What sort of mishap, if you don't mind me asking?" She smiled and shook Jo's hand. "Hi Jo. Feel free to call me Steph."

Malingo had been sitting across the great hall, and he'd been quietly watching as Steph set up her table. He had the oddest feeling that he'd met this girl before, though he couldn't quite place her. It was actually bugging him quite a bit - it wasn't as if he knew very many human girls, or even very many people at all. He should've been able to remember, if he'd met her before.

Well, she'd provided the perfect excuse for him to go over and say hello. If they'd met before, he was willing to bet she'd remember him - most people remembered the horns and orange skin and ear-fins. If it was just deja vu, the cookies were more than enough explanation for why he was going over there.

So, having convinced himself, the geshrat got up and walked over to her table, and looked for a moment at the sign and the cookies. "Now that's a strategy I wouldn't have thought of," he commented, reaching for one of the cookies.

Hey! It was the guy from the roof. Not that Steph could actually acknowledge they'd met. That would defeat the whole purpose of a secret identity.

"Well, I got an 'A' in poster-making 101. Very rigorous courseload. Glitter pens as far as the eye could see." She smiled, and held out a hand. "Hi there. I'm Steph, as advertised."

No recognition. Oh, well - she did remind him a little of Candy. Maybe that's why she seemed familiar. Malingo shook her hand, holding a cookie in the other hand. Apparently, the guy could multi-task. "I suppose you have to know what your skill base is," he replied, fairly sure she was joking about a poster-making class, but not quite sure enough to say anything definite, one way or the other. "I'm Malingo."

"Exactly!" She laughed. "I do mostly lemonade stands, but those skills are universally applicable. I'm going to branch out into bake sales next. Baby steps. Can I get you a drink?"

Lain, or to be accurate, Lain of the Wired, was bored and annoyed.
Human life was just too difficult to adjust to; you forget to eat and you feel sick. Forget to sleep and you feel sick. Forget to bathe and... Well you get the picture.

Right now socialising wasn't high on her priorities.
But, still, free biscuits.

Slinking up to the plate she grabbed a few and started to eat.

Hey! Someone who trusted that Steph wasn't going to turn her into a newt. Spiffy!

"Punch?"

It wasn't so much that Wired Lain was a trusting sort, its just she hadn't had any experience with cursed chocolate yet. Knowing Hogwarts and the muns, it was only a matter of time.

Still, with what little power she still had, she was quite confident in her immunity to it all.

Looking at Steph almost disdainfully, she swallowed what was in her mouth and nodded.

"Any reason for the food?" She asked, her voice bored.

Steph greeted Lain's disdain with a smile. She greeted all disdain with a smile, actually. It was her least Bat-like quality.

"Seemed like a good way to get to know people. I didn't know about the history of baked goods at Hogwarts, or I'd have opted for twister or something."

*Demyx wanders into the Great Hall, humming to himself as usual.* If it all falls down falls down falls down, if they solve my life if they find me out... *He pauses comically in mid-step (on purpose, of course) as he walks by and swivels around on the foot he's standing on.* Hey, I remember you...

"I remember you too! Demyx, right? Kudos on the coordination."

Wha? *Demyx appears to notice that he's standing on one foot. Not that this bothers him enough to put it down.* Oh, that. So, how's it going?

"Can't complain! Learning a lot, meeting nice people. Got a pet. What about you? How are things in the world of Demyx?"
