Ranma looked the girl over. She certainly seemed to be in great shape, with leg strength to spare. He crossed his arms on his chest. "So ya fight, huh? Ya as good as ya say ya are?"
Ranma shrugged. "Seen it before. People have egos, I guess." Ranma scratched at his chin with a finger. He really hadn't meant to insult the girl. "I mean, ya definitely look strong. Ya could probably teach me a thing or two..." Ranma smirked. "But I'm sure I could teach ya some stuff right back!"
"Hmmm. Interesting Gryffindor answer. I'm sure if some god wanted Harry to marry any of my children, it would have the courtesy of telling me first. Especially if it's at Hogwarts." Molly crossed her arms and regarded the applicant coolly for a moment. "If you couldn't teach anyone your fighting style, do you think you could teach some basic self-defense? I can think of at least one person here at Hogwarts who could use the training."
"No," Molly said with a rueful smile. "The gods don't speak to me. But it wouldn't surprise me if people who think they're gods actually are here. And no, my friend isn't dead. Wouldn't that be a little... counterproductive to teaching self-defense?"
"There are zombies and vampires here. Why shouldn't there be gods?" Cammy pointed at Laura. "She's a zombie. A nice, clean zombie, but still dead. She said there were other dead people here, too, so I had to ask. Maybe the dead people don't want other people to knock their bits off?"
May is reviewing the application long enough to see some evidence of the soldier's fighting skills, namely the Cannon Drill, in action.
"Hey, if you're not up to teaching fighting moves, what do you say to sparring sometime?" she asks. "I could really use the workout, and you've got some awesome moves."
May looks a little bit embarrassed at the compliment, having really never considered herself pretty because if a guy wants her to know he likes her he either has to be as subtle as a two by four or Davida has to take her aside and practically whack her over the head with the fact herself.
"So do you," she points out. "And I've already gotten messed up a few times." Most of the cuts and bruises she got from fighting the Scriers months ago are gone, but if one looks hard enough one can see the last of the damage. It'll all be healed pretty soon. "Besides, sparring doesn't mean you have to mess someone's face up."
Oh. I just wondered, y'know. 'Cause, um. My name? Is Carrie White.
An' it was just me an' mama all my life, but after I got here an' thought about it some, I realized - we could have family she never told me 'bout. She's the sort that'd say 'I'm never speakin' t'you again!' an' mean it, y'know? Or, or make other people mad enough t'say that t'her an' mean it.
She's - um, gone now. An' it's made me think a lot 'bout family. I thought maybe - never mind. Was just silly, I guess.

"I think I could teach them some self-defense," she said. "They have to be a fast learner, and not dead, though."
