It's funny how sometimes your entire life can change with one simple thing. Sometimes someone says something, or looks at you a second way, or gives you a present, and everything you thought before doesn't really matter anymore, it's just that thing in that moment, and whatever it is, it makes you feel like the world just fell away.
JD came in and noticed the presents immediately, and rushed over, tearing off his bag. Smiling, he patted Rowdy on the head before squeeing over the scooter. Grinning, he hugged the Unicorn and laughed at the note. It took him several moments to notice the rings sitting there. Is that-? he picked them up and looked at them closely. Is Jack...proposing to me? I mean, we were talking about marriage, but I thought he was only kidding, a thing to score some free champagne and a good room for us, but...But what if it's not? What if this is just a present and I take it the wrong way? What if he freaks out because I thought we're getting married, and then we break up, he jumps in bed with miss trigger-happy

"Yeah, my present to you." Jack moved JD's hand closer to him. "You pick. I know they are, but it's more what they mean than what they look like, right."
"Yeah, it is." he said, selecting the one on the right carefully. "So, their meaning, huh?" he said, nodding. "Yep, that's pretty meaningful...stuff." he said, smiling to Jack.
"I think we should see other people." Jack began and went on through some rather odd suggestions some involving aliens and things that even the Doctor would worry about him for. Before finally sliding off the bed and sitting at JD's feet looking up. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I want you to come with me if I go back out there." Jack raised an eyebrow and continued to look up from where he sat. "So... I guess I'm asking do you want to?"
"I probably should have done all that a lot better." Jack rested his forehead against JD's. "What the hell have you done to me." He smiled, it wasn't said horribly it was, spoken with kindness, no love. "And we were joking about it the other day too..." He laughed quietly.
"Yeah, it's so wierd..." he smiled and kissed Jack's head. Should I be panicking about this? Should I not? How do I know this is what he really wants? What if it's not actually marriage, but a commitment ring, and I'm just imagining the connections? JD hugged Jack tightly. "Whatever we do, I love you." he said warmly.

"Jack, I-" he paused and slipped down beside him. "There's nothing else I want more." he whispered, and kissed him.
