It's funny how sometimes your entire life can change with one simple thing. Sometimes someone says something, or looks at you a second way, or gives you a present, and everything you thought before doesn't really matter anymore, it's just that thing in that moment, and whatever it is, it makes you feel like the world just fell away.

JD came in and noticed the presents immediately, and rushed over, tearing off his bag. Smiling, he patted Rowdy on the head before squeeing over the scooter. Grinning, he hugged the Unicorn and laughed at the note. It took him several moments to notice the rings sitting there. Is that-? he picked them up and looked at them closely. Is Jack...proposing to me? I mean, we were talking about marriage, but I thought he was only kidding, a thing to score some free champagne and a good room for us, but...But what if it's not? What if this is just a present and I take it the wrong way? What if he freaks out because I thought we're getting married, and then we break up, he jumps in bed with miss trigger-happy chunky-jugs and I end up giving free healthcare for food? he took a breath. Calm down, JD. You know you always screw things up. You have to figure this out, come on, think!

Jack opened the door and let Key run in while he leaned against the door frame just watching.

"Hey..." Was all he said eventually, not really sure how JD was going to react.

"Jack, hi!" he said brightly, not really sure whether to ask him or not. Would it screw everything up? Would it screw it up if he didn't? "Thanks for the presents Jack, they're amazing." he said, patting the bed beside him cheerfully. "Come and have a seat, Buddy." Just keep smiling, you'll figure this out.

Jack stood up and shut the door before he wandered over, kicking his shoes off and under the bed without thought. He looked down at JD a moment raising an eyebrow before he sat next to him. "I'm glad you liked them all." The whole smiling things a little creepy even for him. He found them... Jack then smiled just as cheerfully back.

JD cautiously brought a hand over to hold Jack's. Hands...like...lead he thought, dragging them through the air. "So..." he said, smiling still. "Sasha's very cool."

Oh he found them, he really found them. Jack looked down at his and JD's hand like that and then back up to JD's face. "Who's Sasha?" He may have sounded a little strangled.

"The scooter!" he said, a genuine smile breaking through his slightly strained pretend-nothing's-wrong face.

"Oh!" Jack sounded happy to hear that, it was amusing. He leaned sideways and rested his head on JD. "Makes sense."

"It's all really nice." he said honestly, hoping that Jack would pick up on any hints that he might be implying.

"Is the unicorn gonna end up in bed?" Being hugged instead of me...

"Well, only at the top when you're not there, the rest of the time I'll say that you have a strong policy on horses in beds." he said, joking a little.

"Good. I like that. That makes sense. I'll try not to be not there not very often." Jack then frowned. "I mean I won't be missing that much."

JD looked at Jack oddly. "You'll try your best to be not here because you won't be missing much?" he asked, confused.

"More try and get me out bed with you being there."He then shrugged. "How was the unicorn?"

JD smiled and kissed the top of Jack's head. "Brilliant, the Unicorn was nice." he said pleasantly, before glancing at the floor nervously. "The rings were nice too." he said cautiously.

Oh yeah he'd found them. Jack could think of a fair few things to say instead he let out the breath he'd been holding. "One of them is mine..."
