Christine had quickly realized that it is much more difficult to teach yourself how to play the piano than it first appears to be. She had received rudimentary piano lessons at the Conservatoire, but singing opera professionally had given her neither the opportunity nor the desire to hone her skills on the piano.

She methodically plucked her way

*Skip thought he'd heard a familiar voice, so he'd followed the sound of singing and bad piano music through the open door of the Hufflepuff common room. He grins when he sees someone he remembers distinctly from his Sorting.*

Hello ... Christine, right?

You sing very well. Of course, you did say you were in the opera. I have a little talent, but I've never had the inclination to sing professionally.

"Oh, hello!" Christine replied, turning to Skip with a smile. "Yes. I'm Christine Daae. I'm afraid I don't quite remember your name, though. S.. Sk something, wasn't it?"

She blushed at the praise. "Thank you. That's very kind of you. You sing as well, then?"

Skip Wiley. It's nice to see you again.

Well, my only really public performance was as part of a large group, and I'm pretty sure nobody knew it was me, but, yes, I sing a little.

"How delightful!" Christine exclaimed, beaming. "Would you care to sing with me now? It's a duet from Faust. Have you ever heard it? I can try singing the parts for you, though please don't ask me to play them."

Lizzy was attracted through the open doors of the Hufflepuff Common Room by the sound of truly amazing singing and truly terrible piano- playing.

She smiled and curtsied. "Pray pardon me. I am Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Your voice is quite amazing." Her piano playing, on the other hand.... "I play a little. Would you like me to accompany you while you sing?"

Christine vacated the piano bench gratefully. "Oh, thank you Miss Bennet."

She curtsied. "I'm Christine Daae. It's very kind of you to play for me; I'm really quite terrible at it. Singing's my strong suit." Christine picked the music book off the piano and handed it to Lizzy. "Do you know any of these?"

Lizzy flipped through the piano book. "I am familiar with the Mozart, though I'll have to fudge and slur my way through the difficult bits."

She propped the book up on the piano and began to play.

Christine sang along, and they both spent a lovely afternoon singing and playing, respectively.
