Emi started school on November 10th and has been sick almost constantly since November 14th. Lovely.
I had really thought she was beginning to feel better, but last night, her cough changed dramatically. She sounded like a seal barking, and each breath was so laborious, I thought a trip to the ER was imminent. Cue lengthy consultation with the

You know, I doubt it's the school environment that got Emi sick. I'm never sick (I get a cold or flu about every five years or so), and yet I've been sick on and off since Turkey Day. My entire family is very snotty at the moment, which is something we've never experienced, and everywhere I look, people are sick. This must be a seriously new bug that is affecting everyone...

So sorry to hear you and your family are dealing with this crud! I wonder if it's the blasted weather. On Saturday, our high was 86 degrees, but our overnight low on Sunday was 26. That CANNOT be good for the body.
Hope y'all feel better in time for Christmas!

You're little one is SO cute!! What a doll! I'm so sorry she's sick! Croup is not fun. My David got it several times as a baby. I didn't know they could get it when they were older.
You know... I never thought about the part of not having a mom to call when the kids are sick. My mom was a nurse and I called her all the time. It really doesn't get easier, does it?
The school sounds really wonderful... apart from the sickness! I hope she gets feeling better soon so you can both enjoy the holiday!

Not having mom on the other end of the phone never gets easier. This January will be six years since she's gone, and I still get side-lined by the most random things. (I think that book calls them spurts or sperts or something...) I pulled out her recipe for zucchini bread the other day and broke down when I couldn't call and ask if "one can pineapple" referred to the small or large can. Silly girl. But, other things do get easier, never fear. The pain eases with time, and soon there will be more instances when memories of your mom make you smile rather than cry. This time of year is the worst - I've been thinking about you and hoping you're making it through the holidays okay.
((hugs)) right back at ya, babe!!

I am almost done with the book. Thank you again so much. It's so interesting, and I'm thinking of passing it on to my friend who lost her mom when she was 6. I think she could use it.
Thinking of you too...

I'm pleased you found the book interesting. I kicked myself for my poor timing after I sent it. I imagine it looked very much like a Christmas gift. Yeah. Merry fucking Christmas, Sara! Sorry about that...

Sorry to hear about the croup... it is a nasty thing, and I know that barking cough sounds terrible. I hope she's feeling better by Christmas, poor thing. Happy Holidays to all of you!

I hope you have a lovely holiday, too. Do you suppose you'll be having a white Christmas? I'm jealous...

-18 is just... it's... it's mind-boggling. And not fit for man nor beast (and certainly not for f-listers attempting to go grocery shopping!!!).
Hope you bundle up and keep you inhaler handy. Temps like that would have killed my asthma - one reason I prefer Texas to my native New Jersey.
(LOVE the icon, btw!!!)

We are loving that school. Dealing with Europeans has been nice. I hate to generalize, but they seem so laid-back... so much less concerned with political-correctness than Americans. It's refreshing.
Hope you have a happy Christmas, gorgeous. Glad the family will be together!
