A post of vague spoilerishness

Jul 12, 2009 20:34

So yesterday I was looking at this post and its comments even though I'd been warned that it had major spoilers for everything ever. Sure enough, I read a BSG spoiler even though I thought I'd be clever enough to avert my eyes if someone started talking about BSG. So this was totally my fault and I'm not too upset ( Read more... )

ETA: OH I SEE, Athena is just the new Sharon's callsign/nickname! Yay!

Yay! De-spoilerified on that one. I think that's one of the spoilers you thought you had for something bizarre, and I said you weren't as spoiled as you thought you might be... or something like that. ;)

As for Starbuck, I like her pretty much all the way through. Like gamerchick, I prefer the kick-ass devil-may-care pilot from early on, but she does go in interesting directions that challenge her in many ways, and she never stops being in-your-face! That bit never changes, except in focus. :)

with whatshisname (which, omg major longterm dark noncon fantasy of mine but whatever)

Leoben Conoy (#2, I think, if my cylon numbering is correct). And... yes, I never thought of that, but that would be a fantasy up your alley! ;)

I thought my bizarre theory about the twelve Cylon models corresponding to the Lords of Kobol and the planets and constellations and so on was kind of awesome, actually, but I'm also relieved to know I was wrong and that spoiler wasn't a big deal after all. :D

Oh and what is the name please of the actor who plays the handsome black doctor Cylon, the one who was called Simon in "Farm"? He has a very nice voice!

Thank you very much! I guess I did not know him from something else and I will just enjoy him as a Cylon.

Yeah, this was definitely the part of the show where Starbuck's character changed a lot, and where I started to like her less. I didn't mind the "trapped in the apartment with Leoben" plot (the whole thing for me was a classic case of "not my kink", but I thought her response to the situation was interesting and believable all the same), but what I did not find believable was how she was instantly attached to Kacey and how she suddenly had all these maternal instincts that she had actively denied having in "The Farm" (where she specifically told Simon she didn't want kids because she was afraid of abusing them the same way her mother had abused her). I might have believed it if she had been shown developing a real relationship with Kacey over time and discovering that she really did care for the child, but the way it played out, it really felt to me like "oh Leoben says I have a kid and I won't even stop for one minute to think that this might be some sort of Cylon ploy and I'll totally lose my mind with the baby rabies the instant ( ... )

Yeah, I can totally see what you mean. I mean, to be fair she did resist the "oh look you have a daughter" thing at first even though she was faced with this almost unnaturally cute kid, she was refusing to engage emotionally at all until Kacey was hurt, but I agree with you that at that point the change was too sudden and the aftereffects are really dominating her character at this point, and I too miss her kicking ass. (Also I'm feeling bad for Anders right now even though I thought at first that he was boring.)

Tell me which is the upcoming episode that you love and I'll be thinking of you when I watch it. I'm getting ready to watch "A Measure of Salvation" now.

Unfinished Business. I predict that it will kill you dead with awesome and heartbreak. You're actually only two away!
