I'm not at all familiar with Firefly, but really didn't need to be - you need a great job of fitting two universes and characters together without excessive explanation. Loved the details of the Geisha world here, too!

I've only ever seen the Firefly movie (and read some fanfic) so I'm not what about the Companions here is canon and what was your invention. I really like the idea of basing them on the Geisha to an extent and having Amanda as the Okasan. These two characters work really well together.

So sorry for the late comment! I somehow managed to miss both the alert email and the actual post. Anyway, I loved this very much. Amanda and Inara! I hadn't thought about it before but Amanda as House Mother totally makes sense. And making Inara immortal was a great way to address the problem of her illness. This was a lovely little fic and I'm very, very happy you wrote it for me. Thank you!
