I'm so glad that you liked it, raine_wynd! The inspiration for this hit me between the eyes as soon as I read your request. THen I wasn't sure if I could write it for you, given that you hadn't requested Dumas as a cross-over.

And what a perfect icon for the story!

Heh. Joe must have all sorts of fascinating secret Watcher things in his pockets. It's like catnip to AManda!

I love the weave of history and Amanda's place in it. Lots of work went into this story. It would be great to hear more of her tales. (hint, hint)

It was a bit of work. I had to throttle my urges to go off and research the time period, and just depend primarily on DUmas' version. If the Amanda-Muse wants to talk, I'm always ready to listen to her.

Thanks for reading, adabsolutely!

A nice double-handful of my favorites. It's an interesting plot and the changes that adapt Immortality to the original story are very skillful. I loved the bird metaphor best of all.

*g* Personally, I love Milady as a purely evil villain. I like very much that to make her a sympathetic character, you made her someone else who did other things. Again, nice job.
(Sorry, I thought my comment went through yesterday.)

I saw your Yuletide request for Dumas after I'd started working on this story, and immediately thought, 'Ooooh, unovis is going to like my story!'

The bird metaphor is my favorite bit as well. The history of female Immortals still fascinates me.

I last read 'The Three Musketeers' 20 years ago, and I was surprised at how much of the book was focused on Milady, even as the author made her completely despicable. The funny thing is that I took out the part of the story wherein Dumas has Milady stab herself skillfully so that it mostly catches in the folds of her dress. She bleeds, but completely healed up by the time the doctor is callded some hours later. It was far too risky for her.

Thank you for the comment!
