I actually finished this much earlier today. I couldn't think of a title for the chapter. I don't much like this one, to be honest... but what are you gonna do

Eeeee. So many good things in this chapter. Xander & his slayers, their anger. That scene in the basement says it all.
Robyn came across very well, I wonder what sort of memories this is stirring up for him. I think he's totally understanding of Xander's anger and trying to manage it as best he can. Trouble is, *angry* Xander isn't the part Robyn has to worry about.
If I recall, I don't think any of those currently present have ever seen "I like the quiet" Xander. Buffy has, but not Faith. And if that aspect of Xander appears it would be interesting to see the effects. A Watchers influence on his slayers and all that...
Thank you so much! I'm really glad it all went over well. We're coming very close to the end -- the climax is in chapter eighteen or so -- man, this story is going to be a lot longer than I thought it would be. I was thinking novella length, but I'm well over that already.
"I like the quiet" Xander? Which is that? I'm afraid I don't get that reference...

In the basement when Xander faced down Jack O'Toole in The Zeppo. Jack exclaims over the ticking bomb that Xander would die as well, Xander just gives this sort of half smile as says, "I like the quiet." GAH! One of my most favourite Xander moments evah.
I think that was the moment that Xander really became cool. I remember it well.. :) Another great chapter. No time to say more right now, 'cause I'm at work. Just sneaking a look..

Xander's talk with Giles. Xander's talk with Katherine. Giles' talk with Katherine. Faith's remark about 'length', and a great cliff-hanger, Katherine's gone looking for Aud huh?

One thing we were missing was the detoriation of F\W (not that I'm complaining about their downfall). We know why they're going downhill but we haven't precisely been shown how if you get my gist.
There is so much good in this chapter I can't even begin to comment on all of it. Everything just gets better and better and deeper and deeper. Emotions are running high and I can't imagine that any of this will end without more pain and death.
You're right on the characters, though. Ideally, it is an ensemble piece. The problem is that it's already *huge* -- the story arc is going to be three individual stories -- and if I were to show all the other characters, it would get even bigger, and I feel like any more size would make the flow stagger and pull too far away from the central arc. So I try to narrow it down and only show people when the things they're doing relate directly to the story. For instance, I think Willow has had one line, maybe two, in the past twelve chapters, but she has a fairly good-sized role in chapter seventeen (the one I'm writing now).
And now you see why the story's so long -- I'm just wordy. =)
I hated how BtVS got away from vampires being the bad guys -- they just became nobodies after the second season, not a big deal at all, and barely struck me as a nuisance. They even went so far as to create some new breed of vampires, which was necessary because the viewers had been trained to think vampires weren't a big deal.
Another thing that I didn't like is that a vampire's life before siring was almost completely ignored, unless it was turned into an episodic gag (which, played by Jonothan Woodward, was actually pretty good). There's a lot of potential there, I thought.
Those two things are pretty much what spawned Cole in my head. He's my favorite original character in the whole thing.
I still really like Katherine. I am starting to think she is seriously unbalanced...but I like her. Props to Giles for giving it to her straight. He has always been good at dropping the sugar-coating when the time called for it. Xander and Wood's little dominance spat is hysterical. Silly boys.
Faith's little ending quip nearly made me spit coffee out my nose. Proving once again, I am more than just a little Faith, since, for at least a decade, I have been ending pointless arguments like that by offering to fetch a ruler. She totally one-upped me. :D

And not so much looking -- she pretty much knows where she is.

Hee. I'm glad you like the Xander-Wood stuff. "Dominance spat" is the best term for it I've heard in a while. =)
