Of Those Chosen: The Twins - Chapter 15

Oct 20, 2004 14:37

I'm so sorry this took so long. I said it would be done eleven days ago; I am a slack-ass.

I don't want to jinx anything, but I like this chapter. I enjoyed writing it. Things are really starting to heat up in my little imaginary world.

Previous chapters are all trying to determine the validity of John Titor.

I'm not sure who is more evil - you, or Cole. Aw, poor Audrey!

This chapter was definitely worth the wait

Thank you. =) I'm glad the long wait wasn't too bad.

And I cannot stress this enough, but I am not evil! I'm just writing that way.

Yeah, you and Jessica Rabbit (except she was drawn that way!)

Another good chapter! Man, I'd like to put a stake through Cole's heart myself. Poor Audrey (or is it Katherine's dream??) Now I can't wait for the next chapter...

I actually found this chapter rather emotional, even though I'd pretty much marked Audrey as not long for this mortal coil.

I lost a sibling some ten years ago and like Katherine I was the eldest and the one who had to deal. You wrote her reaction extremely well, mate.

I hope Xander is insightful enough to see through Katherine's charade. It wouldn't surprise me if she switches over to being a Watcher after this.

I'm really sorry if this brings up hard memories. I had no idea; I just knew about the brother in New York, is all.

This is actually the first thing I thought of when I came up with the idea for the story: Audrey's near-death, which is stopped by the coming Slayer powers only after Katharine has resolved herself to it, and then another death she comes back from.

You wrote her reaction extremely well, mate.

Thank you. That means a lot. =)

No need for apology, I just found myself empathising with Katharine in a way that took me by surprise is all. Then I had a little light bulb moment and went 'of course'. Its a compliment to your good writing.

Without belabouring the point to much, that's what happens. I once had my mother get all teary when I complimented her on how she cut a chicken up, turns out my aunt-deceased- had taught my mum how to do it. Its not so much 'big date' events. Its things more like an off hand remark catching you unprepared that send you tottering a bit.

That makes sense. You'd be ready and prepared for the obvious ones; it's the surprises that would get to you.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm really glad you're enjoying the story.

You vamped Audrey?!? You're evil...in a good way.

Good part. Gotta go to work now. *grumbles*

Heh. The inevitable Audrey-Katharine confrontation was one of the first things I thought of before I even started writing the story. I had no idea Aud would become such a sympathetic character, though.

Have fun at work, and go Astros! So we can beat down Clemens in the World Series!

A Slayer turned, uh? I always had the theory that a Slayer-vampire would be awesomely powerful, but also completely nuts, caught between its Calling and the demon inside it. Should be interesting.

Great fight scene too.

Yo Faith! Drop the loser and get with the Xman.

Hmm... I don't mean to be spoiler-rific, but this is kinda the opposite of how I'm taking things. Giles explains it in the next chapter. I think you'll still enjoy it; Audrey makes just as twisted a vampire as Cole.

Great fight scene too.

Thanks! I'm glad I live alone, because I was jumping all around my living room, blocking it out and using a big cardboard tube as a mock weapon to try to get it all planned out in my head. Yes, I'm a loser. =)

Yo Faith! Drop the loser and get with the Xman.

I relayed this to her, and she just gave you a Faith Smirk.

Didn't say she'd be Dru-crazy, crazy like a fox maybe.

Actually you just want locking up.

A Faith smirk of my own! Now where's my wallet, gotta buy that girl some flowers.

Wow, you've done it again HJ. The fight at the house was staged very well, and the surprise with Audrey was great. I honestly didn't see that coming. If either of the twins was going to die or be vamped, I was expecting it to be Katharine (placing her and Audrey in opposite roles to what they were before, one having to "pull the plug" on the other). I'm very excited to see what happens next. While the idea of a vamped Slayer is hardly new, there are still a lot of things that can be done with it, and in a story with something like a dozen Slayers, you really do need a credible threat. Of course, you've once again shown Cole to be calculating and creepy enough that putting Audrey on his side only makes me more nervous.

Liked the line: "What does immortality mean to you?"
