Of Those Chosen: The Twins - Chapter Thirteen

Sep 23, 2004 13:07

And here comes Chapter Thirteen, two days earlier than I said I'd have it done. Totally giving a shout-out to midnightsjane, who was a wonderful help with the medical questions I had for this chapter. She rocks my socks and my shoes, yo. That's a lot of rockin'.

Previous chapters are lost on a deserted island with a big, scary monster and probably want to be ( Read more... )

Audrey laughed. "That's from A League of Their Own," she said.

Katharine nodded. "I know. And you tell anyone I like that movie, and I kick your butt."

Somehow, I think liking that movie would actually put a young slayer in good stead among her peers. You know, once they get over the embarassment enough to admit to liking it.

Yes, but Katharine is far too cool to ever like a sentimental movie like that one. Audrey, however, unashamedly cries at all the mooshy parts.

Oh wow, that last line was heartbreaking. Just the image of one sister holding the other while she cried because she feels like a freak among freaks is amazingly touching.

Great chapter. I liked how you switched the Watcher assignments up on me, I thought they would be reversed but your way does work much better. The whole Katherine/Giles vibe would be a little squicky if he were her Watcher.

I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoy your characterizations. I love your Slayers, they're each interesting and unique. You're handling the intricacies of a group dynamic among alpha-type personalities very, very well.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the chapter.

I actually came up with the Watcher assignments before I came up with the romantic interests the twins have.

You're handling the intricacies of a group dynamic among alpha-type personalities very, very well.

Thanks! They're not all alpha-types, though. Helen certainly isn't, she's shy and innocent and quiet (which is why Faith calls her Traci Lords).

And tsk, tsk. You'd better be nice to the Dom fangirls for we are Legion. Be sure to watch your metaphorical back if you continue down this path.

What? Did I say there was anything wrong with wanting to bang the Dom? There is nothing wrong. He's cute, sure -- and, lemme tell you, that dude has a voice.

I always thought I was a better principle than teacher, not counting the whole

Principal?

I'm up to my elbows in it, so more later.

I don't know that I've ever gotten the right spelling of that word on first try. I'm about to give up and just reach for a dictionary every time I need to use it.

Thanks for the correction. Hope you can get it down to your knees by the end of the day, at least.

I agree with dlgood in that it's a good use of League. I think the narrative is turning, and I can't wait to find out who those watching the Watchers are.

If that was a deliberate Watchmen reference, in reference to my story, you are officially promoted to Most Favoritest LJ Friend Ever.

I see trouble ahead from that Kim chick. Faith's thoughts on Xander were great and Audery's pain was very touching.

Thanks! This was a total set-up chapter, I'll admit, so I'm glad it was interesting to you.

Do you at least get the impression that Kim is trying to do what's best, not just raise trouble? Because I agree, she's definitely got radical ideas for a young Slayer, but she's not evil by any means.

Oh, no not evil, just well-meaning but troublesome. Too many brains for a Slayer maybe?
