I am musical genius!!

All by myself, with the piano at the house where I babysit and a pencil and some paper, I figured out the accordion part of Rufus Wainwright's "Hometown Waltz." I pecked it out on the piano, wrote down the notes, figured out the measures and note counts and drew myself little music paper and put notes on it. And then I came home and hauled out the ( Read more... )

wow.
*is impressed*

We have the cutest picture of my dad at the age of 7 in an "accordian band" - a whole bunch of scowling 7 and 8 year old boys in suits holding accordians.

I will be forever in awe of anyone with any sort of ear for music. *bows down before you*

I think you'd bow less deeply if you actually heard me play.

It is an amazingly fun instrument, and I play it so so badly. Really. Badly.

<3's Hometown Waltz.

<3's accordians (okay, not really, but yay musical talent). ;) And abyssinia4077), what is it with dads and accordians? My dad used to play the accordian too. Hehe.

really? weird.

Maybe it was, like, THE instrument to teach little kids back then?

Admittedly I think my father dropped it as soon as he could, gravitated to bass for a long time and is now completely obsessed with harmonicas. Even sleeps with one.

As always, I'm highly impressed that anyone can play a musical instrument no matter what it is. One year for my mom's Christmas present (I was woefully poor- which, come to think of it, really hasn't changed much in the past eleven years despite my steady employment) I spent two months learning to play Silent Night on the piano. I have since lost every single bit of amateur cuteness and have reverted back to musically stupid.

*genuflect* You have my musical respect... soon to include my Photoshop respect.

I do not deserve genuflecting, I assure you. Three years ago I tried to learn Elvis's "Blue Christmas" and had to give up because I don't know how to play the black keys.

However your story about "Silent Night" is so sweet!

Hum a few bars and I'll pick it out on my pipes... once we transpose to B-flat hehehe, a duet of epic proportions!

Um. You lost me at "transpose to B-flat." However the image of you playing pan pipes pleases me greatly.
